How expensive is fuel for nitro or gas powered?

It's not cheap. Look it up on any website for R/C but the last time I bought it, 2 months ago, it was about $27/Gal (on sale). It is very flammable too, so store it in a cool place away from sharp objects or potential fires. This was from my LHS.

it's stayed around $30-40 (depending on brand) every time i've looked at the lhs for the past couple years (the time it's been since i had a nitro). gasoline powered (1/5 scale and hpi is supposed to release a 8cc gas engine in a savage this year) is the cost of unleaded and some 2 stroke oil (you'll have to mix it yourself).

in a .15, a gallon of nitro will last a month, running a tank or 2 every day. big blocks are a little worse but still not too bad. i dont know about gassers. seeing as you live in MI too, we have more or less the same running seasons. nitro is a bit of a pain to run in the winter and usually not worth the effort when you can only stand the cold winds for a half hour. on the bright sides, nitros tend to see a slight price drop in the winter, so you could ask for one for Christmas and wait until the march thaw to break it in.

I am quite good with electrics and don't want to start out nitro with a beginner truck/car. I am also ok with engines and tuning. What Truck (I prefer 4wd truck) would you recommend?

I have a traxxas jato and a ofna 1/8 scale buggy both big block and my fuel usually lasts me about a month running both every day. I use o'donnel 20% "racing" fuel which is about 23 dollars at my LHS. I like nitros because you can run them whenever i want and dont have to wait for batteries to charge. They are fun and i would deffenetly reccomend one for messing around and having fun pulling the trigger and hearing the roar of a nitro Powered motor. It gets my adrenaline pumping.

I've had a couple nitro trucks. An rc10gt and a HPI savage. But I myself prefer electric. Always had a hard time getting the nitros started.I do have a t-maax I aquired but it's not in running condition..looks like it sat for a long time...not sure what to do with it.....kinda was kicking around the idea of converting it to electric but I don't know. Right now I'm trying to get my evader project done. But on another note has anyone been successful at removing old tires off stock evader wheels? I would like to reuse my wheels the tires are junk and I do Have a nice set of used dirt hawgs I would like to put on them. I heard the duratrax wheels melt with acetone?

I have never removed tires, but since your scrapping the tires, you could probably pry/rip the tires off the rims. Or maybe a razor blade and a knife to finish it off.

I got the tires off now I'm dealing with trying to get the rubber out of the groves of the wheels so I can mount the other tires......not going so well right now....

I know what you mean. I waited on parts for 4 months. I am still waiting for one part and it's been 5 1/2 months. My LHS told me that they can't help it, Duratrax just isn't shipping. I ended up getting all my parts off ebay.

I know right? Well, I had a question. I wanted to put an SC10 short course truck body on my Evader ST. No idea how. Has anybody else tried it? Or at least something simular to it?

I'm looking for the ext2 wheels and tires, a front bumper from either the brushless, dt or vw. I'm trying to find a blue engine guard that they discontinued. Also looking to get a radio and reciever. I'm converting my st to an ext/ext2 got a line on a guy who hopefully can ge me the trans and all the parts I need for the drive line. Also looking for a set of shocks with white springs.

On part 1 of the fourm you can find a guy who did this. It was pretty cool but the only bad part is the short course trucks these days are just as big as 1/8 scales. In face most of the short courses are based off of 1/8 scale buggys. The evader is alot smaller than short course trucks and if u want to make a body fit your basicly going to have to cut the body alot or stretch the chassis. If you want to find out who did the chassis stretch to make the body fit it is at the end of part 1.

Just converted my DT to 2.4GHz Yesterday. Boy, what a difference! it does not hesitate to move from 40 ft away, it just gets out there and rips.

As for parts, my LHS internet was down yesterday, but they said they'd order my parts no problem.

cumquat, do you have front shocks?
