I just pull my arf kit off of the top shelf in my workshop and you are right. It have positive incidence!! I have been in this hobby the same amount of years as your-self and its the first time I seen this. From what I seen on flight report, its fly great!!!

To anyone who is flying the new Hangar 9 Christen Eagle II, would you please measure the sides under the cowl on the top from the front of the fuselage to the firewall and again on the bottom. Please see my photos.
I am interested in the flight characteristics of your engine or motor is using UP-THRUST. Mine measures definite up-thrust and I have never seen this in 30 + years in RC. I'm looking for conformation about the up thrust and the plane flies well before I take mine to the skies. Negative -2 degrees down thrust is logical, not UP THRUST.

This is where we need to see a set of plans on this bird. Now I have the Great Plane Christen Eagle and last night I put it on the work table and saw it have 2 degrees of up THRUST!! I hope to maiden her this weekend if the weather stay good. I will post the outcome of the flight here. I am not going to start a fight over ARF, but, I would love to see a small set of plans come with them, if not, just put them on the web so we can see and get answers to question we have.

My name is Dennis and I have just completed my Hangar 9 Eagle, making it full electric. I have noticed the firewall is a good +2 degrees positive UP-Thrust. Does your Eagle have the same? I can't imagine this to be correct but Horizon Hobbies tells me it is.

Yes they are the same as your measuring in the pictures. My Eagle is still in the box waiting for its DLE 20cc gas engine to come in.
Like I sad in my last post, I do have the Great Planes "C" Eagle and the weather is a go for her maiden flight this weekend. It also have up-thrust of 2 degs. I still would like to see a small set of plans come with any ARF, but, we know that will never happen!!!

Question for you gassers out there. I am thinking aboutwaiting for the new SaitoFG-21 to put on this plane, but had a question about placement of the ignition box. Where did you guys install the ignition box?

my ignition is next to the fuel tank on the right of the fuse, the lead exits the hole on the right side and tucks under the box to the plug. the bottom of the cowl is very nicely cut as well.

I had the recommended power system installed in a similar weight aircraft as my Eagle and from a thrust standpoint there is plenty but a short coupled biplane is the last thing you want to try and hover, mine is powered with a DLE 20 and has plenty of power but it is a little squirly in a hover attempt.

Guys,
I'm going to get this plane next week. I have the engines narrowed down to the FG-21, FA-125, or a DLE-20. I already own a DLE-20 in a cub and I really like it but the 4 stroke sound in a scale plane like this would be great.
I'm going to go with Standard Servos for the ailerons and High torque for the elevator and rudder. Life Batteriey(or batteries) and a smoke system (Sullivan Skywriter)
Any advice on the power plant? Is the FG-21 going to vibrate more than the FA-125?.......too much weight with ignition?

I considered the 120 4 stroke, but as you I elected to install a smoke system and the gasser wins this category hands down. so the DLE-20 got my vote. will get some video footage one of these days.

I have a Saito 125 on mine and it is plenty of power. Balancxed and flies great with no more than 1.5 ounces of lead on the engine mount.
Was flying it Sunday and noticed the left wing tip was slightly fluttering, just as I pulled up into a snap roll. At it came out of the roll, the left lower wing seperated and appeared to be held on only by the servo wire and the cabanes. I leveled off, and it did not appear to want to stop flying so I throttled back, used rudder to make a shallow turn and headed for the runway. Landed with no problem. The flutter had been induced by the cabane attachment screw on the bottom getting slightly loose. The flutter caused the wing holddown screw inside to vibrate lose and it pulled completely off the alumnum rod. Lucky to save it, but nothing was hurt. Put a new screw in, tightened the caban screw down and flew it again. The planes flies and looks great. Gets small really quickly though so pay attention.

This thread makes me happy that I have stashed a GP 1/3 scale Pitts in my basement for the past ?? howmany years. I began putting it together and never got the time to complete it!! Just love the lines of this eagle though. Very nice bird. Several guys I fly with have this kit with DLE 20's on them. One flip and off to the races. This plane flies like it is on rails. Very good job H9!!!!

Yeah Andy, thats what i said. No more babying it, now I can fly it like I stole it. I alsready used up one of its lives. Could not believe it when I was coming in to land I fully expected it to roll over any moment, but it settled in a like a trainer. SOme guy came over and complimented me on my "skillz", I just laughed, thank him, and wondered what I had done that was so impressive. The plane did not even act like it had lost a wing. If you had not seen the left lower wing sitting at a 45 degree angle to the other three you would not have even known there was a problem. Guys, don't get cuaght up in worrying about the incidence and changing the CG. Use what the book recommends. Assemble the plane and go fly it. It is nice and lfies like it is on rails.

I ordered a FA-125 and the plane yesterday from my local hobby shop...........it should be here tomorrow. :-)
I feel like I'm going backwards in technology with the glow 4 stroke............but I don't want to pay an extra 200 for the FG-21 and as I already own a DLE-20 on something else I was looking forward to the sound of a 4 stroke on this thing........
Crazy how many of you guys are running the DLE-20 though............. making me doubt my choice. :-(
Anybody running redundant batteries/receivers on this plane?
My plans are for a LIFEsource reciever pack, high torque servos for the tail and standard servos for the ailerons.....

I would like opinions from you guys that have this plane. I am going to make this my next plane. I have been thinking about engine choices of an OS .91 Fx with a Pitts muffler or a Saito fg-21.

I'm torn myself between a Saito 125 and the DLE 20 myself. I have the DLE 20 in a GP PT Stearman right now, so I'll see how that performs and go from there.

I got a Saito 125. I wanted to keep this thing stock and light.
Anyone put a Saito and a slimline pitts muffler on this thing? I'm trying to figure out if the stacks will fit and look nice. Id like to make this plane a smoker!!!!

OK. I'll have to order the 90degree manifold.
The saito 125 sounds awesome and turns a huge prop but man this thing shakes my Eagle like crazy. IS it shaking anyone elses plane like mine.
Maybe its because its a new motor or maybe I need to balance out the prop........ but at any rate I hope I can smooth this thing out. Any ideas?
This has to be the best looking plane in my collection BTW..............hopefully it flys as good as it looks.
