Default 28 years later I just flew ! I did it !

Been building balsa stick kits since the age of 12.
Never joined a club, single Mom Blah Blah Blah, sold off my planes.
Kept my old FM radios. Obsolete or I thought....
Got into HELIE`S, learned how to hover .
Last OOOPs I decided to go to the attic,
Dig out the old stuff and refurbish a Hobbico .40
Was getting parts from the LHS and the guy has 39 new plane`s from a 90 year old man who was ready to get out.
I got the 3 junker foamies off him for 40 clams with servos and such.
VEEERY Happy I did !
Took a piece from this one and a piece from that ....

AND TO NIGHT I CAN FINA ALLEY SAY AFTER 28 Years ...........I KNOW NO WHAT RC FLIGHT WITH ALLERIONS IS LIKE !!!!!!!!

What was a I waiting for ???? It was so much easier with them ! What rudder ?
OK, till I got near the tree`s. Rudder was very effective.

Time to get the .40 to the field.

Just wanted to say Thank You to all that have just made my life long dream come true!

I`ll be back with more questions of coarse.

drag out the smoker and go to the feild with the boy`s.
Thank

Thanks Again !

Get to that point where you are leading the plane and not saving it
then start nailing those touch and goes..
you will be the Zen master in no time ...

Oh yeah, you will get that high every time you test fly a new one, whew.. sometimes its even a white knuckler.. hahahahah

oh yeah, and have fun !

Did a little leading today, deliberate in puts. Neighbor walked by and watched for 10 minutes, said I did did great....He had no idea what I was thinking.
Or see the white Knuckles on the sticks as it came at me and everything was BACKWARDS.
I did take off and land 2 X make sure it wasan`t luck,
Ha ! I`ll let that one go.

JUST BUSTING RIGHT NOW !!

What a feeling !

Take 3 junk planes build one, and solo 4 channels on the first test
Thank You to every one here.

I will NEVER forget the day I took my glider, and first glow trainer home in one piece !

Being self taught, before simulators... I did some repairing before that day happened.

Just flew again with a loop or 3 added, wish I had the room for a B- roll.
Came home in one piece. .
Now I need 3 more batteries.
I will NEVER forget August 2012 !
Thank you for the support.

That is great to hear ReelQuick. I am sorta in the same boat.  I was big time into building Tamiya RC cars as a child in the 80's. Eventually my father got interested and as wood working was his main hobby thru out his life (he was a Master wood worker and furniture maker) balsa RC planes came naturally to him. So we built several kits together. A Goldberg Super chipmunk and a TopFlight F4U Corsair. And then never few them.  We where both to afraid to wreck them! I still have them! And still have never flown RC planes lol. Now my son is 15 and we have been doing the RC car thing for the last few years. We are nitro pros but are slowly getting into brushless electric. But damned if I don't have the itch to try and fly.

DO IT !!! You know the feeling of winning something, or finding money in the street ? Well its like that ! Pulse the other thing .
I would say ,get PRO help but after working in boiler rooms all day the last thing I want to do is go to a club meeting at 8 pm, in another state, when I get up at 4. So they can fight about weed killer.
VERY nice fellow`s , and a VERY nice field.
But this sparky action is the way to go! Took my old stuff and made it work.
I crashed last night trying a barrel roll, No problem ..I got 3 more planes I got for 40 bucks.
If you have access to a simulator, or get on for X-mass, you`ll be in the know.
I had The HORNET and my bro had a GRASSHOPPER. Ton of fun. Still have the Tx.
Get a foamie to start with.
There Slow , there cheap, YOU WILL BANG IT UP ON YOUR OWN, but it`s called learning.
And most of all having fun !
DISCLAIMER....I AM NOT AN RC INSTRUCTOR.
Theres a ton of help here.
Good luck and enjoy

OH I almost for got .....My Uncle is a master woodcarver, He invented the Bazi`s rocker..rocking chair built to your specs.

Kyosho Joe...

What ever you do, Please Please Please do not try to make one of those 2 planes you built with your dad something to learn on..

get the foamy you mentioned, learn on that, then and only then, get an ARF of something that would make a good second plane, such as a 4*, or a stick..  then after you get real good with that, maybe consider flying one of those two planes you mentioned..  It would be even better if you waited to make one of those 2 planes a 4th plane...  you want to be a very proficient flyer before risking flying the planes that have such a high sentimental value attached to them!!

No no, I have no intentions of trying to fly my old planes. They are just wall hangers at this point. I got in contact with my local RC club and went out to the field this morning. Met with several of the guys. I'm gonna buy a couple of foamies and .60 nitro trainer to get started!

I am finishing up a recover and fine tuning of my QB 40S that I dug out of the garage. Got the ol' Como 40 purring like a kitten. Can't wait till it cools off to go fly it.
