Started to install radio gear bats, receiver, power-box etc., and thought I had better check the c of g with the plane in its present state. The wings still need the final top coat of yellow but as the model sits at the moment the balance is bang on with Peters recommendations, so I will wait until I have all the painting done for I will be able to balance out the model with the placement of all the ancillary gear without having to add any dead weight.

What is going on with the forum opening up.  If I click on the email link to this page or post, it stalls and won't open.  I can go to a saved link to page one, and it opens right up. Then I can go to the drop down menu to get to this page OK.  It's a little more time consuming, but I can get here. This has been going on now for about a week or so.

Great looking WACO, Tmac!

Bill,
I retired my old Spektrum DX7 for one of the newer DX7s transmitters the only problem is having to reprogram all the planes. I did the Waco first and failed to check the amount of throws and differential I had programmed in for hi & low rates. I have spent about two hours looking back threw the thread I know you have posted it several times but I can’t find it so can you PLEASE post it one more time for me.
Thanks

Dan, If memory serves, it is:

Elevator 1" up and down on high, 3/4 up and down on low.
Rudder, all you can get
Aileron 1" up on high rate and 1/2" down. 3/4 up on low rate 3/8" down.

I have a Saito 450R3 that I’m trying to find a plane for. Are there any WACO’s that will fit this engine either kit or laser cut from plans. I would consider an ARF but I would like to build it from a kit. The engine diameter is just under 10 inches.

Here’s the start of the ¼ scale Waco from Pica’s blown up plans. The wings will be three piece using wing tubes. I used four 5/16x5/16 spares and 5/16 leading edge I wasn’t sure I could get the sheeting to make the bend on the bottom side but after soaking it good it worked out there shouldn’t be much sanding doing the LE this way. I’m kind of changing the rules as I go so please jump in if you see any problems with what I’ve done so far.
Next I will be making the aluminum brackets for the struts & flying wires.

Steve,
I beleave the 1/4 scale Waco has a 10 1/4" cowl?

what the heck!!! did rc universes server go super nova or something, jeese you'd have thought you would've seen a big flash or mushroom cloud or something.DANG!!! oh well, still getting the emails at least.just wanted to say howdy and see how everyone is doin out there in WACO land.
say Bill, hope all is well with the new digg's,I'm sure your getting all this rain too, bet the grass sure is growing. have you given any more thought to having a get together, maybe sometime in the fall, somewhere on your twenty acres? Me and the misses are trying to find 4 or five near Belleview where we live now. boarding the horses is just wasting money we could put into our own place. enough room for a runway and a garage is all I;m wanting. well , maybe someday ...   Blue skies everyone

HI ALL, received my instrument assembly from IFLYTAILIES. com and happy to report that I was very impressed with the quality. Unfortunately I could not use the dash as supplied because it did not fit the Barth 1/3 scale Waco so I made my own backing and happy with the result.

Rain?  Did someone say rain?  I had to cancel a Scale Fly-In today for our club here in VA. We had over eight inches of rain in a two hour period. Our field and part of the runway was under water. It's the first time that has happened to my knowledge.  We are going to give it another try Sunday.  LOts of the low areas in the city were flooded with hundreds of autos either under water or with water half way up the doors.

I was in the Porta-J ohn when lightening struck a pine tree about fifty feet away! Talk about something getting your attention!!!

WOW!

Joe

tmac, I had the same trouble with his 1/4 scale dash appears to be large enough for a 33%er, another episode of live and learn.[]
I've tried to reply to your PM but there seems to be glitches in the system, thanks for your input.[8D]

On the actual subject of building PICA WACOs, I have must completed the kit a bought through RCUniverse a few months ago, and feel like showing it off a little. Following several suggestions posted in this thread, I made the horizontal stab adjustable and had landing gear struts fabricated from sheet aluminum, including an inner brace which is spring-loaded to absorb landing shocks. The plane is covered with 21st Century coverite and painted with water-based paints from Ace Hardware. The graphics were made by Cal-Grafx, and the whole plane is clear-coated with Ace gloss clear polyurethane. The plane is powered by a DLE 30 turning a 18x8 Zoar prop.

The plane has completed two flights, and after trimming, behaved very well. Although it turned out a little heavier than I had hoped, the DLE 30 provides plenty of power, and landings are very gentle, with virtually no bounce.

Congratulations sounds like you have your self a fine flying Waco she certainly looks good. I’d be interested in seeing pictures of your aluminum landing gear if you have any.
