Yesterday saw the final part of the assembly of the model with some small bits left which are additional to the normal build, this will be the construction of six pylons. I will upload the build of these tomorrow or later today.

So yesterday I fitted all the doors with my custom hinges, the engine fuel panel and also correcting some small quality issues.

As you will see with the photos one of the servo hatch slots was in the wrong place and also the flap horn had been drilled out to large so new ones were made, I also assembled her just to see her together and what I nice looking jet she is.

I looked at the rudder servo linkage and the possibility to hide it but due to the angle and width of the rudder I decided to do he recommended linkage.

Today I finished off the air brake fitting the actuator, the hysol had cured on the undercarriage doors so I took her outside in the sun to see what she looked like with the landing gear down and all the doors open. Now as the model build is complete I now started on some scale additions this was in the shape of six hard points, basically these are made from 3mm plywood, proskin and some chemiwood. These are attached using a 4mm bold into a hysoled spike nut bonded into the wing, to prevent them from turning in flight there is a small 1.4mm pin at the rear.

Phil,

Excellent work, as always! Can't wait to see this one completed.

Do you have a concern regarding this hole in the landing gear plate? Seems to me it's location right at the edge of the gear mount tab is the proverbial accident which has found it's place to happen and is now just waiting for the opportune moment to wreak the most havoc. There doesn't seem to be a reason for it to be there. No door cylinder feeding thru, why's it there?

Hi David,

The hole is for the door cylinder, the kit suggests the door to hinge on that edge, it was after a lot of research that I decided to change the hinge line to the opposite edge. It's only my personal choice to hinge it that side, the hole is correct if you build as per the instructions.

Over the past few days I have working on setting the the pylons and setting them up for mounting. I also inserted the spike nuts in the wings for mounting the pylons. I also fitted the refuelling probe. On the last model I fitted a detachable refuelling probe it rotated in flight, this time it will not happen as it is mounted using square tubing. To retain it I have fitted two small magnets, one in the square tube and the other in the fuse.

Hi Ian, there is no problem, I have been waiting for the paint and paint masks from Taylor made decals, the paint arrived last week and I have painted the inside of the air brake and undercarriage doors white. I have now painted the insignia white where the star of David's go. Fingers crossed the paint masks arrive today or tomorrow. I have completed the artwork fr the fin in autocad and will cut them out when they are needed. I am now on this model 100% so progress will be quick to the finish now, I am also working on a turbo Marchetti while the paint is drying.

These are not flying models but this is what I have been working on while I have been waiting for taylormadedecals

Insignia white painted first then I applied the paint mask, now painted the insignia blue, when dry I will mask up the blue area and start the camo. As I said before fin artwork complete now I have finished the Hebrew and logo down the side of the fuse.

Yesterday, was a good day. I painted the underside of the aircraft light grey in the morning with the paint from Taylormadedecals.
After lunch, giving the paint a couple of hours to dry hard, I masked up the underside using soft edge masking on the fuse and hard edge masking on the wings and tailplane (horizontal stab for the yanks). I then painted the whole of the top side light stone. Just before the evening I masked up the light stone with soft masking ready for the light green and brown camouflage. Today I am having a well deserved day off and going to see the Avro Vulcan XH558 at Clacton, Essex air show with my better half.

What an amazing day, the Vulcan was the last aircraft of the day. OMG what can I say, having waited for over four year since she came back to the air i finally was able to see her in the air. I never thought that an aircraft could bring me to tears but she did after a slow low pass she opened her four olympus engines to full power and howled to altitude in a big climbing circuit, truly an amazing sight and sound.

So now the BMFA nationals 2012 are over today I was able to get back to finishing off the paint scheme. I had to remark some of the camo due to the time I have left it masked. Anyway today I have been able to give her a coat of dark brown and finish the fin artwork.

After another slight delay due to a very large model arrived on Tuesday for assembly and install of radio and Jetcat P200 for tomorrow test flight I have now been able to get back to finishing the painting of the M346 ready for the weathering.

Here are some photos of the final colours.

Due to the FEJ F16 which took over everything I have now got back to the M346, she has been weathered and now clear coated, the re installation should start tomorrow for test flight on Tuesday just before we leave for jet power. Anyway here are the photos of the weathering.

Where is the jaw on the floor smiley!

WOW, that superb Phil. Talk about a transformation. I always liked the shape of this aircraft, but never was keen on the colours. Seeing it in this scheme has totally changed my perspective. Cant wait to get back to the Uk and fly it now.
Regards Al
