RE: ROAD TRIPS 2012
Sam,
As always good to see you at both at Owatonna and Fond Du Lac. Thanks for taking some pictures of my yellow zero. I don't have any as nice as you took in Owatonna and it suffered some wing damage at Fond du Lac on that windy thursday. So at least I can copy those pics when it was at it's best. Take care and see you next year.

Great pictures, Sam - it was a pleasure hanging with you a bit this last weekend!!
Here's a few of my pictures featuring you!
Sam and the P-47:
Requesting take-off:
And a couple of airborne shots:
A great event - I've already pre-registered for the 2013 edition!!
Going through my photos and vids - should have more later (I'll post them on the main FDL thread)
Best regards,
Lee McD

I believe the red nose is Rich's panther.
Next is Paul's enlarged Ziroli panther to 85".
Paul's C-45.
Dave's C-45.
(I'm building a new C-45, I'll be happy if mine looks half this good).
Dave's panther.
Paul's enlarged ziroli skyraider.
Paul's enlarged Bates B-26.

The B-25 is 118" ziroli at (I think) 67 lbs and flying on G-38's: pretty impressive. Looks like APC props to get as many RPM's as possible. The pilot said it takes off very slowly.
Tim's P-61 nose gear got ripped off hitting the dirt berm at the end of the runway and when the wheel less nose gear touched the grass, it ripped off the nose.
Paul's enlarged Bates B-26 using two DA-100's.
The show ran smoothly due to a great FDL crew.
That's all Folks: whew, that took a lot of work!
Now, to get ready for Munci's Indiana warbird campaign.

RE: ROAD TRIPS 2012
Aug 30-Sept 1, Indiana Warbird Campaign and classics at AMA's field at Muncie, Indiana.
98 miles.
The weather was so nice, I started on Tuesday. I 'went deluxe' and rented a 20'X20' tent. It was nice not having to move planes to a main tent. The first first few nights, the weather was so good that I just put the wing bags on the planes under the tent. Thursday night looked like rain so I put up the four clear plastic walls. That night, a light rain and Friday and Saturday had a few light sprinkles. A great weekend with lots of flying, movies at night on the big screen, a balloon light show and a great dinner Saturday night provided by Robart and Richard Curtis the speaker: a WW II P-51 pilot. Bought his book 'dumb but lucky': Can't beat 10 bucks for a book! The only storm for the whole weekend occurred during the dinner but we were nice, safe and dry inside AMA's building, where the dinner was held.
Pictures:
My tent.
Paul's wife Michele joined AMA and is learning to fly.
4th picture: Paul's thinking: 'while she's flying, I'm going to go get some breakfast'.
Early morning and Michele 'beats' the 'dawn patrol'.
