Default Earthquake 8e servo upgrade

I updated the EQ8E servo today.

I'm trying a "Blue Servo" from Hobbyking, model 660DMG+HS

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=9440

The servo is taller that the stock one:

So I had to shim it:

Then I had to play with the dremel on the motor mount and the plastic part on top (because the shimmed servo is higher, it wouldn't fit anymore on his place):

Finally installed:

snazzy looking servo.
I had used a MG996R servo in my 8E. It fit without mods and had alot more torque than the stock one. was metal geared as well.
Only problem with the MG996R is that they are rarely in stock in the US. So I usually buy 4-5 at a time off ebay, and wait a month for them to arrive from hong kong. But at $8 each, its an awsome deal.

If you havent, plan on upgraded the drag link. When I put in a stronger servo....It wasnt long before the stock drag link broke. But redcat has a thicker one that a stronger alloy availible.

the stock is blue alloy, but its thin and not a high grade alloy.
the one I linked is a hop-up, its thicker.

the stock link is sold with the bell crank, and is only like $10 for all that. the hop up is around $20 and is just the link and bearings.
