RE: Old Rhienbeck Aerodrome on the 8th
Hi,
I'm one of the MHRCS club members running the event, so I'd be happy to answer.
We start setting up the field on Wednesday, cutting the grass and setting up tents, so modelers can be on the field then but need to wait until we have everything mowed before they can pick flight line spots and setup tents. From then on the field is available but you need to check with aerodrome personnel prior to driving on the field. It IS a working airport! Staying on the road between the two white safety fences once you are at that part of the field beyond the tower is highly recommended.
Friday am we start further setting up and most modelers start arriving then. We usually start the event informally around 1 PM on Friday but modelers can still arrive and setup throughout the day, again staying between the white fences whenever possible. there is a trailer storage area on the field and most modelers park them there to have access to them throughout the event.
Saturday cars can be on the field until 8am, after that it's closed but ample parking is available nearby. saturday evening cars can again get on the field if needed. Sunday is the same, field closed to cars at 8am until after the full scale airshow ends at 4PM, then the field is opened for car traffic and tear down.

Online registration is available at the above link as well. Warren the CD can answer questions at:[email protected]; and mine is [email protected];

RE: Old Rhienbeck Aerodrome on the 8th
In the past I've come up for just Saturday, but this year I'll be coming up for the whole weekend. Is there a place to store planes on site without having to disassemble them?

Yes, most folks either lower their tents over them for the night, or just drag them down to the hangers and tuck them in with the Aerodromes planes. As many planes brought are replicas of ones on site it looks like the planes have had children.

I've never been up your way, but this sounds like one I need to put on my bucket list. Airplanes having babies .... How cool is that !!!!

RHINEBECK!!!!
My vacation! 26 years, and have never considered not going. Last year my Balsa USA Morane A-I which I have flown there 21 years was lost from an engine out and could not make the field. This year I'm bringing my 1/3 scale Pup which has flown there since 1990, also my new Ryan STA- YPT-16 The Ryan is a 1930's design with a 1939 color scheme and my 34 year old Cub that I rebuilt this past spring. Looking forward to seeing all my friends from all over the country. The weather forcast looks awesome for the weekend. I'll be there wed. Hope to see you all there, the best WW-1 flyin there is!!!!

Thanks for the enthusiasm Tom!
Rhinebeck is what it is partly due to the place and it's history, but mostly due to the attendees. We have a very loyal following that go the extra mile to make the event and bring true works of art that fly. Thanks to all of you.
Pls note that tents erected prior to our mowing may need to be moved, darn hard to mow under a set-up tent!

I'm sure there are others too, I just haven't checked. These I used the water transfer type and then clear coated them, they look very good.

I didn't make it to Rhinebeck last year but I heard about your Morane from Lee Henderson, sorry to hear it was lost. I got several pictures of you with it the year before I believe. Would you like me to send them to you? They're digital so I can email if you like. Better yet, I can post here so others can see too if ok with you.

Anyone from the club know how the preparations are going? Do you call off the event for rain? Checking the weather from here it looks like rain for the weekend. I'm pre registered but I don't want to spend the money for gas if it's going to be a rain out.. Thanks, and praying for good weather.

I don't think we have ever canceled the Jamboree due to weather. This year is no exception. Club members mowed and raked the field today, and set up tents etc. BUSA is already here as are modelers from Wisconsin, Florida and Texas. We got in a few flights this evening under clear and sunny skies. NOAA shows some chance of rain Sat evening, but that has not stopped the club or our "usual suspects."
Club members and modelers will complete setup tomorrow am and start flying around noon, sooner if we can clear the field of cars and trailers. Hope to see you there!

I`m about 2 hours from Rhinebeck It is worth the trip! The weather has in the past effected flying at times but like Whit stated the Mid Hudson Rc guys do a good job to get things going as quick as possible after any downtime to make the event enjoyable. I have been going to their event for over 14 years as a flyer and spectator

Well, sorry guys the weather just looks to iffy for me. I'm 3 hrs and $70 of gas away and money is tight these days. I've been before and there's no doubt it's a first class event. Maybe next year, any body thinking of going to this event? http://www.goldenageair.org/RC%20mod...eet%202012.pdf A real nice event and no trees anywhere. This is only 1/2 hr away from me. Good luck everyone and happy landings.

Well, I just have to ask. How was it? My son was up at Odessa for WW2 reenactment event and he said it poured on Sat. I have wet German uniforms and equipment hanging all over the house and deck. Looks like an encampment. I sure hope everything was successful, it sure was verywindy and stormy here in eastern Pa.Here is my son at an earlier event .

Fed the the addiction and went down on Sunday. Perfect wind and weather. Models flew all day til 1:30 when the Rhinebeck Show started. I'll post random shots. Forgive me for the framing, did my best from behind the spectator line.
