Hey Guys,
This is how I mounted the rack...
First pic is some plugs i made for the post holes..stuck it to the inside with the posts protruding and then lopped off the excess..
Then encased the magnets in styrene and glued it on to the rack. then got the rack oriented on the roof then attached the magnets on the inside!
Not sure if i will get a chance to paint before the weekend though![&o]
figured i'd leave the other holes for running wiring to the roof lights!

you got some skills
Its funny though...I used to think the same way when i saw others scratch building.., even after my first go at it...[X(], but like most things, if you have the time and you start small, you will be amazed at what you can accomplish! it will be really cool to see others here attempt scratch building, there's a lot of talented people here on RCU!

Finally got some pics of mine with the gunmetal/black combo. No tint on the windows yet, I'm really hesitating to do so since I'm pretty sure I'm just about out, and it might get splotchy. Plus there is no LHS near me that sells Tamiya paint, don't wanna pay $4 shipping on a $4 item. :P
Plus, it looks pretty decent w/out tint. What do you guys think?
Haven't unmasked the headlights or put on the front grill stuff, as you can tell.

I think it will great with the tint! But maybe you should decide after you put in the window decals etc? See how it looks that way and then decide on the tint? Who knows...you may decide you want an interior for it! Ha! And a custom roof rack!
But seriously, it looks awesome as it is...!

Hey thanks LB!
Never really thought of putting a spare tire on the back! But hat should look pretty good....It will probably make the back more complete! ha! Will have to look around for a tire and wheel... the ones currently on the truck are too big and definitely too heavy i think!

Ha, keep us posted.. yeah, it is a difficult choice.. whether you want the spare to match (at the trade off of heavy and big) or not match.. !! [&:]

Updated pics to share! I'm done for now (maybe add roof rack later and such), but here's what I have. Will also share in my build thread (sorry for the duplication).
I decided to use the window border decals after all. In closeup pics they look ok I guess, but from a little distance look better. Tint looks better in person too. Ah well.

G'day all,the 5 days I've been on a Certificate 1V Training and assessing course and we all had to do our last presentations on course delivery and I did mine on my CR-01.
It went well and the other trainee's loved it.
cheers,
