RE: Enlarged Zirioli Turbinator 125% size
Gary the true center section of the three piece wing would be about 49" and that is why I decided to go with a 2 piece version. The two piece will allow me to have 48" sheeting and add what I need for the total span as blocks or tip tanks. I just cam home to a broken AC unit so there goes my spare time tomorrow.

Yea it sucks big time. My wife has been out of work for three years and we do ok but; to put out what I fear this is going to cost will all but wipe out all of the overtime pay we been putting away for new toys and a vacation for the two of us. It's times like this that I think renting would be better then owning a home.

Got lucky today with my AC unit getting fixed for $20 when I found a bad start capacitor last night. Our local Graingers had them in stock and it took all of ten minutes to install it and put the unit back together. We modelers can do anything if we have the time and tools.

Well....I couldn't stand it any longer........I needed to know if I accomplished the goal of building a 3 piece wing, so began cutting the tips off. The separation line is right between the flap and the aileron. It was a little harder than I thought it would be to get the wing skins and spars cut all the way around, but when I finally got it done, both tips slid right off.

Staid late tonight to get the corefiles laid out for the wing tool to be able to build up the inlets without having to have a full size wing in the shop tom work around. Hopefully these will get cut tomorrow or Saturday after work. Looking good Gary.

Finally got the foam cores cut for Jimmies and my planes. Lots a foam piled up on my work bench. now I have to decide on either a two or three piece wing. I'm leaning towards a two piece just to make it easy to join since i have to build two of everything. lol. Going to lay out the gear, flaps and ailerons on the cores so we can decided by the weekend.

I had some 1/2 inch pink foam left over from insulating my metal garage doors, so I glued some of the pieces together and cut out a side view profile of the fuse. I then took this pink turbinator out to my van and trial fitted it to see what I would need to do to be able to haul the real one. It will fit but it will have to sit in a rack inverted (unless I pull the rear seat out).
Finished the inlets and got the retract and brake valves mounted. Joined the horizontal stab halves and glass taped the joint. Probably going flying tomorrow so no more progress until next weekend when I hope to be able to start glassing.

We found out that we can't use a 2" tube for the joiner with a two piece foam wing going out 18" into each panel and not breaking through the skins. We can fit a 1.5 with no problem so I'm getting some 2024 seamless tubing with .065wall from the supplier and moving forward with the wings as of today. Lots of delays with the work thing and the wifes health this past spring; but we are getting back on track for a either late fall 2012 or early spring 2013 test flight.

Mine are still on hold until after the Oct hamburg jet rally. I am ready to get back on them but have been waiting for the new electric retracts before building up the wing sections. All the layout is done for the foamcores and we got really busy over the spring and summer at work. Just have to clear the bench of my BVM F-86 EDF that I've been finishing up this summer before we can get back to work also.
