They are the same operationally. One in English/Italian the other English/German/French.The only difference is the available languages for the menus.

You can use either version. One allows you to select English, German or French, the other English or Italian. The only difference is which languages you want to read.

Does anyone make switch labels or switch overlays for the dx18? I would like to permanently label some of my switches such as my flight mode switch etc. I have a 9303 and a DX8 as well and would like to make the Dx18 and Dx8 permanently the same

I have a new DX18, which I have flown once and is now back to Horizon to understand why the Telementry receiver voltage reads 3.4 volts all the time. Have used 4 different batteries, two different telementry modules and two different data cords, all to no avail. The receiver voltage always reads 6 to 6.9 Volts dependent on battery used. That a side it worked and flew fine.

The question and observatin is the manual is very weak on how to instructions compard to JR or Futaba manuals. Is there an expanded how to manual or site available that provides deeper instructions on how to's? I am flying 30 CC gass airplanes and Helicopters of all varieties. I operate a JR 9303 and FUT 9CHP in addition.

Thanks for any insight.

New to this forum. I am a sport flyer that plays around with some 3-d flying. I have the DX7 and DX8 installed in 2 Funtana 125's. Love the radios and the models. One 125 is using a Saito 125 the other 125 is using a 30cc gasser. Now the question. What is the advantage of going to the DX18 radio system over the DX7 and DX8? I have not had any issues with either of my systems. Please keep it simple. Thanks.

Sequencers, more mixes, ability to specify active position of mix switches, more diversity of switch uses, use of sticks and sliders as switches, sliders, crisper screen display, more wing/tail types, ...

And then the DX18QQ adds more to that!

Only thing is your paying a lot of $ and you wind up with an expensive receiver that does not have voltage regulation.

I would just as soon not have the voltage regulation built into the RX....lots of other options around for voltage regulation.

I am still struggling with a simple mix of say a side slider to elevator can you help, probably switched on and off with flight mode switch. The principle in thinking it out is as important as the solution. I also have a version for programming my MVP x but it seems hard to set up and never sure if it will be ok

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Trimming the elevator with a slider?

I have the eflite micro ask 21 and require about 20% or more extra up to launch with a small tug. I tried with a'calibrated? Amount of up but the tow wasn't successful. A more experience flyer managed very successfully, and thought that it needed 50%, that is why I wanted to do it on the slider.

Ok.I think Im understanding that you already set it on a switch/Flightmode with a fixed amount of offset and this didnt work for you? You want a variable offset on the slider to manage the ele position at launch? It could be done but Im honestly thinking it could cause alot more complexity and potential problem than what you think your trying to achieve. Why not manage it with the ele stick if you want it to be variable?
You said that an experienced flyer didnt have trouble. It kind of sounds like you need to stick to a Flightmode based offset if needed and simply practice more.I have a half dozen hand, winch, bungee launch models and I only have 2 that a little up ele offset helps alot.
Im assuming you have it setup in Sail mode.IMO its going to be alot better in the long run to learn how to take advantage of Flightmodes and fixed basic values.Manage the slight variations with the stick themselves. It makes things alot simpler. You may have to fiddle with the launch values to get it where its comfortable for you but once you do that it should basically be the correct position for every launch and your brain will be knowing exactly what its going to expect everytime after a little practice.

Thank you for you comments but, I originally said that I am interested in the principle of setting up the mix and only using the ask 21 as a means of learning to use the dx18. I am beginning to wonder if I made a mistake in buying it, as a new glider has been produced by eflite and it only tells of a program in dx 8 form.

I believe it is very poorly supported, as there are no program's as samples in the special forum. As far as just practicing , the weather looks poor so that option is already out and I need a friend with a suitable tug.

I would be useful to have at least a standard program that will give me a good launch without too much problem, until I gain more experience,

Pete,

The DX8 programming for the Mystique will work just fine in the DX18 if you select Acro mode.

If you want to learn how to set up a full-house glider in a competitive pilot's manner, use Sherman Knight's guide. It's 30-some pages just for setting up a simple glider like the Mystique, but it explains every little nuance in a way that only somebody intimate with the development and glider piloting could do.

That is an excellent post and most helpful, but it doesn't help with setting up my Mcpx helicopter . Is there a similar post for a 3d helicopter

What part of it are you having trouble with? Bind to a default Heli model.Go to System Setup/Fmode Setup and choose your FMode and Hold switches. If you are planning to go inverted then change your throttle curve so it looks like a V in FM1-2 instead of a linear one from 0-100.Change it to 100-50-100 In FM1.Or make it be a flat 100 all the way across.Go fly.
Most of it isnt really DX18 specific. Look here... http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=41692
Watch the CCPM vids and the ones about throttle and pitch curves. If there is something specific you dont understand
ask more questions.Feel free to PM me if you want.Ill see it faster maybe if you PM me on HF.

The Spec Setup for the MCPx works well. Start with a reset Heli model and set up the settings in the spec sheet. Then you are good to go. Do you need a spec sheet for the MCPx?

Is anyone using the DX18 with a Parkzone Radian Pro BNF? If you have the setup file or know where to get it, it would really be appreciated!!! Trying to setup my Radian and gray hair is coming out of my head trying to figure this one out!!!

Cheers to all!!!

Ola Luis,

As Andy have pointed out, Glider programming is brain-dead simple in the DX18; I suggest you read this very well documented sailplane guide written by Sherman Knight at
www.soaringusa.com/product_manuals/DX18_Six_Servo_Sailplane-Programming_Guide.pdf
