Since you have the engine, why not! One thing I would suggest is to use an aileron servo in each wing. My Tiger with the original long aileron torque tubes would flutter on down lines so I had to go with the dual aileron set up. I would expect with that 55AX hauling it around, it would be even more prone to flutter.
By the way the 55AX uses the same mounting holes as the 46AX so if you ever need to change engines for any reason it is an easy swap.
[/quote]
Yes, thanks for reminding me about the dual servos, that was on my list of mods. Somewhere I have a list of mods I need to find, but I think the dual aileron servos was the main one.

RE: Goldberg Tiger Club
Yes good point on the OS 55 ax and 46 ax they both have the same foot print .. I like to use the ail torque rods for flaps and then put two servos in the wings for the ailerons...Although I have never had a flutter problem with my Tigers I think as thailazer says if we push the limits on power we could run into problems like flutter...We had a Tower hobbies Trainer ( about 60" ws ) doing its maiden at our field on the weekend and the pilot flying it did a big loop He didn't power back enough and all of a sudden we heard the dreadded burrr of a flutter...Fortunatly He came out of it with no damage ....The Motor on this plane had a purple head and looked to be about .45 to .50 .

I think the 55 would be perfect for your Tiger II, no problem there!
By the way, have you guys all weighed your TigerIIs? I was just wondering if any of them come out at 4.75lbs to 5.25lbs as advertized.

Rainy day keeping me from my projects so I was able to dig out some old photos. Haven't flown my Tiger in over six months as we just built a house which will have a 220 foot runway out front. I love doing touch-and-go's with the Tiger and am hoping that 220 feet of hard pack gravel with a 6 foot high fence on each end will be enough for a that. Last year I was flying on a 500 foot paved runway which really spoils a person. At any rate, here are the photos both before and after the tail mod. She snap rolls a whole lot better with the Mooney style tail. Bonus pic for bikerbc showing what kind of lightweight I really am!

WOW thailazer, your ''Spirit of My Tiger 2'' is my new favourite video. That's a masterpiece!
I need to get back to work on my Tiger 2, after seeing yours with a .35 I think my planned .55 might be overkill. I'm thinking a .46 ax will
be plenty. Has anyone flown a Tiger 2 with a .55 ax?
jkr, please sign me up.
PS, bluemax nice looking JR Tiger!

I have a Tiger2 with a Saito 125 on it. It balances with 1/2 oz of lead added to the tail. It makes me happy.

RE: Goldberg Tiger Club
Nice Scoot thailazer Thanks It really hard to keep the weight anywear near the kit projected weight at least in my experience ..Mine are always over. Espially when we start to add bigger motors..Although with Tigers thats not 100% true because they are tail heavy and we often need to add nose weight....One area we pick up weight fast is glue...I built an LT40 with a few other guys..(we all built one enlarged 9 %) The only one that came out tail heavy was mine and I am the only one that used epoxy exclusivly on the fuse...Wood can add up fast too...If we get contest grade balsa for our builds it helps...Of course in kits we get what we get...

Do328 jet #50 do you know what your all up weight is? That a pretty big motor for sure... You will be able to use it on your Tiger 60 if you ever build one...That would be too tame , You will be needing the Saito 1.80 at least by the sounds of it..

RE: Goldberg Tiger Club
Here's my Tiger 2 modified to a twin for an engine out thrust experiment. We put about 8 degrees of out thrust to test how it flew on one engine.
Tiger 2 ARF, OS .46AX engines. Nacelles added. Weight 8.5 lbs
After trim flights, we fueled one tank full and the other half full. We wanted the loss of an engine to be unexpected, like it really would be. The engines were cranked and I took off, flying a normal flight with lots of acro. The out thrust worked because the plane slowing down was all that told me I had lost an engine. And my buddy mentioned it, too. I did not require any rudder input. After the one engine shut down, I did more acro, carefully at first, including turns both directions, rolls both directions, loops, Immelmanns, Cuban-8s. Landing was no problem. See photo.
We did other flights alternating which engine had the light fuel load. I noticed no difference in which engine quit. In case you are interested in the math, 8 degrees of out thrust still leaves you with over 99% of your forward thrust. (Cos 8 = .99027)
In case you are wondering about the black thing under the plane on the in-flight photo, the covering is not coming off (yet). We added a black ribbon to the bottom as a yaw indicator so I could fly overhead and check the yaw. Some of you old time jet pilots might remember yaw strings. The T-bird (T-33) and the F-4 had them.

Nice to see a Twin Tiger. I can imagine how nice that sounds!
Weighed my Tiger 2 with the 35AX and it looks about 5 lbs 4 oz. I remember the kit having very dense balsa so I tried to add lightening holes anywhere I could. Here is a video I put together one winter when friends back home were complaining about snow.

My Tiger Twin had good vertical. You could takeoff, rotate and keep going. I had a later twin with 2 other .46AXs that weighed 7.5 lbs. It would really climb.
The Tiger Twin was an excellent flying airplane. All the acro was great. It did tend to land a little faster than a single Tiger 2, but most twins are heavy with a higher wing loading. Like most of my twins with wire landing gear, I had to change the main gear to 3/16" wire. The stock 5/32" ones kept bending more & more backwards from the higher landing speed. It never bounced down hard or anything, but if you touched down right out front, you could see the gear flex backwards due to the speed.
I had a Twin Stick and also a twin fuselage World Models Skyraider Mach II.

I just picked up a new 40 kit that I am going to start building very soon.
Side note, do people worry about these kits being discontinued?

BP Hobbies (New Jersey) has the AT-40 (sport planes section) Exactly the same plane in ARF version

Thanks. The nice thing about video is that you can edit out all the sloppy flying and bad landings. I have wing skids for a reason!
Also.... The ARF is indeed a Tiger 2 although they are not calling it that. I wonder how the quality stacks up against a kit built one.

RE: Goldberg Tiger Club
Personally, I dont see any ARF being as well built as a kit. They are all built as cheaply and as fast as possible to get them out of the factory.
As long as a builder follows the instructions and does not take any shortcuts, the kit shoudl be a better build.
Though, they may not LOOk as good as the ARF... lol

Ed This is tremendous. What sort of top speed did you get with this setup? this looks like it would be loads of fun.
Also how did it balance. did you put the RX pack in the nose?

Boy my RCUniverse went squirrely a little while ago.... I lost a bunch of stuff....Anyway....I just weighed my Tiger 60 it weighes 8 .8 lbs I thought it might be more because it has had one major repair from a dead stick I had at just the wrong time...I broke poor Tiger in half . I was sure glad I had a fus jig ...It made fixing it much easier . I came close to having a bad boo boo last week end....I was assembeling My Tiger, putting the wing bolts in and I got distracted by a buddy asking for help ...I didnt finish tightening my wing bolts, they were still out about 1/2" when I came back I fueled up and went for a fly...I wasent feeling well so I cut it short and when I was taxing in I noticed a gap between my wing and the wing saddle...I feel quite stupid for endangering my friends by not doing a proper pre flight...I do not deserve my Tiger...It is so easy to get distracted and miss somthing....

It would be nice if we could get replacement canopies cheaper from BPhobby.
