This the new issue that Fiery sent up to me , looking thru props could not find a 9x4 decided to try a XOAR 10x5 wood, 3 choke flips then a couple of flips off it went
9400 shut down after a minute, let cool, repeated 9500, shut down again and repeated 9600 and it held no issue needle 2 1/4 open compression untouched as I got it. this will do fine in the control line shoestring I have on order
Not much smoke but dark oil. ( not black) Engine getting plenty of lube, fuel was Davis 1/2A. I did give a quick try on the needle to 2 turns, sputtered, slowed down and was about to quit, a quick open on the needle back to 2 1/4 open and all was well martin
I will pick some props with 4 inch pitch do not want to keep running the 5 inch pitch not reccomended ??
one prop table they do show a graupner 9x5 at10,330 so it seems the 9600 on the 10x5 is in line

Martin,
The Blackhead in my vintage Team racer swingz a 7X7 easily & well. So don't be afraid to give it some pitch once it's had some running.

Rocket Bob here it is I understand the original by Burford dates to around 1964 Adelaide Aeromotive ( down Under) spent a lot of time and effort to bring this back
required new molds there could be an RC version ( new mold of course) All Aussie no farm outs to China or anywheres else

I Used 1/4 inch drive 6 inch extension and I think it was a 7mm socket works fine, but an allen or tommy bar setup would be easier martin

There's nothing easier than a Tommy bar, the Allen key looks the coolest, and hex head looks just wrong.
It doesn't affect how the engine runs of course.

It does look different but very logical in that it utilises what most flyers already have - a glow plug driver.
Stroke of genius some would say!
(And there are some engines on the market that use the same driver for back plate removal as well, again its different but all still very logical.)

I weakened. Just for aesthetics, I put a genuine late specification Taipan NVA and Irvine tommy bar on mine. Before and after shots below.
I did read in Maris Dislers book that Gordon Burford supplied hex head adjusting screws in some of his competition engines.
