If you guys would just split the elevator it would end the binding trouble. The servos would just have to be close not exact and if one fails you have a chance of getting it back.

RE: The new Tornado sport jet
Maidened my V2 / Merlin 90 combo today. Pretty uneventful it was. The model behaves generally well, and with flaps down it crawls. Really an easy model to fly and land. Not very fast as the airframe is quite draggy. Its a bit painful to assemble in the field, mainly because of the tight fuselage and my big hands. The blind nuts in the booms seem to eat the screw's threads. I may redo them and inverse the wing bolts to be fastened from outside.
But, all in all, a working model it is....

That was my post on the Falcon thread, I put the T nuts inside the fus and drilled a hole through the wing with a guide tube for a Allen bot into the T nut, I retained the bolt with a lock nut recessed into the wing root, hope that helps, may be able to find the pics if I look long enough, its a long way back in the thread about page 90 or so.

In both the Falcon 120 and the Modellbau F-86 threads I posted photos of mine
I thread a bolt into the wing T-nut, then goes through a 1/4" wheel collar mounted to the inside of the fuse, which holds things tight wtih a cap-screw.

Hi guys!
This is my first jet and I'm getting ready to buy my first turbine. I'm looking real hard at the King Tech K100G. What do you think?
Thanks,

The K 100 will be a bit to much for it a K 80 is a perfect match for the airframe. Thats what I have on mine easy 7 minutes with some reserve.

I would get the K100 you can always turn it down. The weight, size and fuel burn is the same. But the 100 has 2 to 3 lbs more thrust. So it will work in a biger ai frame when you move up. Just my 2cents

Nice! I am jealous! That is what I paid for my 80. About half way through my flight I have about unlimited vertical, so you will easily have it for the whole flight.

For all you guys who like to have a go about the quality of the Tornado, read this below about the Boomerang Torus.
Hi guys,
Just finished building the Torus. With 3 huge batteries in the nose, she is still tail heavy. Anyway, since I've used Electron retracts, I need to add the 4th battery, so hopefully I will need less dead weight!!
By the way, most of you have been raving about the Torus. My personal views are that the quality is absolutely not up to the mark for the price you pay. No grudges against the owner of the company, but for a price tag of $1700, its not at all worth it.
1) 95% of the formers dont even make contact with the fiberglass fuse. i had to empty out two tubes of Hysol!!
2) The hardware that was supposed to be included (sullivan stuff), wasn't included in the box. However, that is being sent seperately now.
3. All the hinges are of poor quality.
4. The wing tips dont have a nice fit. Really have to sand the tips so that they lie flat against the wing.(not using the tip tanks, so I have no idea about those)
5. To hold the wing tips on, they have provided 2 M4 screws. That is a good idea, this way you can change the wing tips to tip tanks whenever you like. But with what I have seen, they dont use blind nuts but a M4 nut which was glued at an angle and the bolt was locked. I had to cut open the wing only to find a nut instead of a blind nut. Not a very good design and a lot of work for me!
The overall quality is dissapointing for the big price tag. This was my 7th jet that I built to throw around but am absolutely shocked at the quality. I even built a shockjet and DV8R and I can tell you, their hardware is way way better and the quality of all the components is absolutely fabulous compared to the Torus.
Anyway, hope some changes are made for future productions.
Makes you think.
Mike

I flew my V2 for 5 more flights today and I'm pretty pleased in the way she flies. With the M90 I have unlimited vertical from takeoff and with full flaps the landings are really slow. The instructed cg is a bit front, because now I cant stall it into a spin. A jet one cannot stall on purpose, this has to be my first!

RE: The new Tornado sport jet
Just a simple question guys........
I have read many of these post on the Tornado but I never had my question answered.
I owned and flew a FB Velox powered by a P80. On take off if I was not careful the jet would go into a cobra effect. In other words not enough wind would pass over the horizontal tail and cause the nose to rise up. Feeding in a tad of down elevator would correct this problem.
I learned to fly it that way but I wasn't happy.
Looking at the Tornado it is not the same as a Velox but simular.
I have never flown a BVM Bobcat but a friend had one and he never had the so called "cobra effect" on take off.
You pilots flying the Tornado,,, is anybody experiencing this issue?
I am thinking of trying a Tornado.
Thanks Guys
Hoss

Tornado flies off the ground, just above ground level raise the gear, let speed build, raise the flaps and pull. She'll go Ballistic.
Let her glide in on finals and gently settle down.
Great Fun !!!
