SIG ULTIMATE FUN FLY 32 HELP
Good day
Does anyone have an opinion on the Sig ultimate fun fly? I am thinking of getting one and have a OS 46 fx to put on it.
I have been flying rc. for a little over a year and have a 46 profile, two fourstar 60s,and a sig cadet.how hard would it be to fly this ultatimate? any reviews? Any ideas?
Thanks
Mike

RE: SIG ULTIMATE FUN FLY 32 HELP
I have the Sig Ultimate, it's a great flying plane. The wood is excellent quality, the instructions are great and it builds quickly (all lazer cut). It's a fun fly plane and as such is very aerobatic and does wicked spins and tumbles. It's good in the wind too. I've had two dead sticks on mine and was able to land it easily both times, but others have said that it doesn't glide very well; get the nose down if you have engine trouble. I have a GMS 47 spinning a 12 X 4 APC prop on mine and it will pull out of a hover with authority, but I haven't any other "3D" flying with it. I don't think all out 3D flying is its thing. Having said that, it is a total blast to fly! I say go for it, you won't have any regrets, just good times. Sig makes some of the best kits out there!
Cheers!

JUST KEEP A LITTLE POWER ON When LANDING because of drag, ive dead sticked a few times in wind and pan caked the gear a little as said its a blast to fly so good luck it does take some time to get 2 wings built but worth it it pretty tough 2 wind blew it off the car and just broke a couple of nylon bolts bryon ....

RE: SIG ULTIMATE FUN FLY 32 HELP
Hi,
I'm building one now. Just starting to cover it .
I will send pics as I progress on it. Will be running a Thunder Tiger Pro .46 with a 12.25 X 3.75 APC prop.
And using Futaba radio Gear.
I already have a Sig 4-star-60, and a Sig Somethin Extra, their pics are in my hanger and gallery on here.
Take Care
Pat

RE: SIG ULTIMATE FUN FLY 32 HELP
Hello; Mine had a Saito 56 in it, I loved it. I only flew it 3 times when a guy saw it fly and just had to have it. I told him $175, thinking he'd never go for it. He wrote me a check, I ripped out the Saito and radio gear. I wish I hadn't sold it, and I haven't seen it fly since then.
A fun build and a fun flyer. Try not to squash the landing gear, you'll punch holes in the wings.

I flew one for about four years and really enjoyed it but I wouldn't go there again with all the better flying byplanes out there like the Boxer etc.

RE: SIG ULTIMATE FUN FLY 32 HELP
An Ultimate of any size is a blast. I've had a .46, a 1.40 and my newest, a .90. They will go as fast as you want or as slow as you want. they tend to land easier if it is slightly tail heavy. Hovers are better, harriers are easier and knife edges are a breeze. I've had the same experience with all 3 of them. If you can fly a profile, you should be ok. They're not as hard to fly as something like a Tecate, but a little harder than a Sig Hog Bipe. You should be ok. The wing loading is pretty light. I don't know what it is on the .46 anymore, it's been gone for quite a while, but on my .90 size, the wing load is less than my World Models P51 w/ retracts and an OS .70 4 stroke. As stated before, it's not going to float like the trainers or the profile, you'll have to fly it in to land. Like a warbird.

RE: SIG ULTIMATE FUN FLY 32 HELP
Can anyone tell me if you can transport the Sig Ultimate with the wings split from the fuselage? Or are the wings glued/fixed to the fuselage?
Thanks!
Thanks!

RE: SIG ULTIMATE FUN FLY 32 HELP
This is my Sig Ultimate Funfly. It was built way when the kit first came out. I got it from a friend who got it from another friend then so on. It's been passed around a lot. This picture was take before I recovered it yet again. When I removed the covering I found the entires front half was glassed. I flew it for 2 seasons with an OS 46 FX and an APC 12x4 prop and enjoyed every flight. I then broke in my new 55 AX right in this plane instead of on the bench with an APC 13x6 and wow what a diference. I also tried an APC 13x4 prop as well thats what I kept in it till I retired the plane, due to age and respect for the abuse it has had. Yes I will fly it again as a Sunday flier, but this time I'll try my OS FL .70 4 stroke. I fly off usually rough grass so I use Du-bro 3.00" low bounce wheels, perfect for this airframe. Mine weighed in at 5.5lbs mostly due to over building from previous owners. It sure is a fun plane to fly, always gets peoples attention when I bring it to the feild. One good thing is it fits in the trunk of my BMW without diissassembly.

RE: SIG ULTIMATE FUN FLY 32 HELP
Hey There,
A buddy of mine just picked up one of these at a swap meet. It did not come with plans or instructions so we were wondering what the control throws were and where the CG should be. Can you give us a hand?

I'm just getting into electrics myself, so I can't help you with the conversion. I know one thing though from reading bits and pieces around here is that the 2100mah packs aren't used in a .40 sized profile. This plane tends to weigh more than the standard single wing profile anyway. Look at the Eflite Ultimate for around $150 bucks. It's alot lighter and uses your size battery pack. I had this plane and she had tons of flights. First with a Super Tigre .51 and then a Super Tigre .90. The .51 flew it great for sport flying and the .90 was great. It would take a motor that could compete with at least a .46 glow engine to make it worth your while.

RE: SIG ULTIMATE FUN FLY 32 HELP
I believe it was in the 90's. Finished the kit about 6 months ago, and it flies really well. Not quite like a trainer, but definitely takes off straight - not squirrely at all. Because it's a bipe, there is a lot of drag, so slows down really well, and landings are a breeze. I've seen a few of these at swap meets, and if I had crashed this model, I'd pick up another.

RE: SIG ULTIMATE FUN FLY 32 HELP
But if an old thread. Just picked up a nib kit and was wondering if an OS 70 Surpass would be too much. I saw a post withanSaito 56 but don't have one that size.
Thanks,
Bill S.

RE: SIG ULTIMATE FUN FLY 32 HELP
I had a Saito 56 and it worked just fine, but probably wanted just a bit more so put a Saito 62 in. Just fine.
I think an OS70 would work just as well, but I suppose if I was to do it again, I'd go with an OS 46FX.
