RE: JMA Long Marston - 6th and 7th October, 2012
Saw the weather on Sunday and thought better of it
Won't be able to make it all weekend mate, it's still looking doubtful that we will be up tomorrow as it stands with all the issue's we're having with the 120.

Alex and I have finally thrown in the towel as we can not get the motor the initialise. It keeps flashing the red LED and Glowplug symbol but we have changed the Kerostart plug with no change.
Seems like there is something wrong with the ecu, and I can not get hold of JetCat till Monday morning.

Peter,
Is the ECU set to Kero start? Look here for a manual that explains how to check and set it to Kero is necessary http://www.jetcatusa.com/PDFFiles/In...l%20V6.0J2.pdf
Geoff.

Hi Geoff
Yes the CPU is set correctly, to ensure it was correct I reprogramed it to Kerostart.
I have checked each wire with an Ohm meter to ensure continnuity and all seems well.
This motor has just come back from the factory and was check run before it left, the only thing that was not checked was the cabling.

Looks like we are going to have brilliant weather for the weekend! all my gear is ready and just needs to be loaded tomorrow morning, will be taking my E-flite Mig for combat in the mornings, Will hopefully get there as dawn breaks and set up ready for action!
As Dick has said, we will hopefully be having three meetings at Long Marston next year which will be costly but once booked they will be guaranteed to happen.

I guess when you clamped the first keroburner down on the wing something fused. Will email JC and see what they think.
Ian, typical internet forum statement. I won't start on about your kits...OK? JetCat have sold a lot more turbines than anyone else, so I'd expect a lot more issues...In this case the turbine/ECU was fine until Peter made the mistake on the Kero start position and tried to clamp it into the wing...
Peter, any "smell" to the ECU?

Hi Guys
I am still working through the system, but still a blank.
I have tried changing the CPU to gas start ad put a "standard" glowplug into the motor and it still says the glow plug is faulty. Have switched it back to Kerostart still no go.
DAve there is no smell from the CPU, but the only thing that is left is the CPU not liking the keroplug getting traped by the wing.
I will speak on Monday morning to decide whats the next step.

Just made sure everything is set for the weekend. Bringing both of my little EDF Migs as one of them has seen a bit of 'action' and the other is brand new, unflown.

Enjoy the weather. Gutted I can't be there.

Just finished loading food, etc into the van (good old 24 hr Tesco!) and it's hammering down outside (has been all evening). Forecast is for it to clear at abt 0100 and a nice sunny day tomorrow!
Should be good...got my daughter Rachael coming to help, so I might get chance to get out and take some pics! Certainly looking fwd to Migs at dawn
Hang loose and see you tomorrow.
Cheers,
Dick

A truly fabulous day's flying, superb vis., scattered Cu , wind 1 to 3 knots if that, and much beautiful sunshine, convivial company, and great flying ! Doesn't get any better, thanks to all and particularly to Roger and Dick with catering !! Hope Sunday goes as well as today !

Here are a few photos from yesterday. Not as sunny today, but still lights winds and another excellent day in prospect.

Enjoyed yesterday immensely! Good banter with the boys, as ever - just a shame my Bandit suffered some minor undercarriage damage, so only got 2 flights in! Had great fun hiding behind the hay bale trying to radar gun Geoff's Super and the superb Firebird - I want that paint scheme! Both too fast for the gun (which has measured 219mph), so comfortably 220mph+, but it was fun anyway! In the Geoff vs Jason Mega Death speed competition, I think Geoff has the edge! On second thoughts, Jason is getting me a new bottom end for my BVM strut... so - definitely Jason!
Hope the weather is good today too! Thanks again to Dick and Roger! Dick - with the catering in such good hands, next time you'll have to bring a model and fly! [8D]
