Default DLE 30 Propeller hub install and remove

I have a DLE 30 gas motor that the prop hub bolts are stripped inside and one broken off in the actual hub. Tower hobbies sells this item.

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...0&I=LXYUT9&P=K

My question to you is how does the prop hub and shaft come off and then how to reinstall. I cannot find this information in any group or online.?

I made a tool for removing my hub, but it works off the bolt holes ,since your's has broken off bolts I would get a impact gun and remove the hub bolt then use a puller to remove the hub. You will need a deep well 3/8 drive 11 MM socket, 1/2- 3/8 adapter and an impact gun. They like to put locktite on the hub and the hub bolt so they are a little on the tight side. The install is just in reverse Locktite is my personal preference, so if you do use some make sure it is the blue it will come apart if needed in the future where as the red and green are somewhat more difficult to disassemble. Don't over tighten the hub bolt 10-15 LB's of torque is enough to hold it forever and not damage the crankshaft.
Oh just FYI you will not replace the Alum sleeve that comes with the kit just to change the prophub so don't worry about it.

Thanks much will give that a shot but the 3/8 deep socket does not fit over the end of the shaft to be able to reach the nut.

You will have to search around for a deep broached, thin wall socket to fit the retainer nut. The common, garden variety auto parts socket might not fit. You may have to do some searching around for the correct one .... they are out there!

Try Ace hardware.

Just saw the end of the nut off!

A new nut comes with a new hub anyway.

But you'll need that deep socket to install the new nut!

I use a 3/8 x11 mm deep well Socket on mine W/O any issues.
I just tried it on my 30 and it fits like a glove, All deep well sockets are not made the same though,as I have one that will not fit. The hole inside is to small to fit over the shaft.
I use a craftsman standard socket W/O issue.

You are the man. Thanks I will go to sears a pick one up. Don't you have to hold the hub some way in order to be able to take off the shaft? If so how and what do you hold it with. For the old one I can use a pair of channel locks but the new one probably should not be scarred up. Or is this even an issue?

put it in a vice to get the old one off.
To fit a new one use an old prop and drill the centre out so the socket will fit in the middle.
Bolt the prop on as you would normally and hold it tight as you do up the nut.

Valley View have a prop adaptor http://www.valleyviewrc.com/estore/d...er-dle-30.html
Look at the page at the bottom it has a link to the manual, it shows another way of holding the piston in the cyl (and crank) by useing rope in the spark hole.
Don't forget to use locktight.

Since your bolt holes were gone and can't be used is why I suggested the impact wrench. But like has already been said a vice is not going to hurt the old one any *L*
I have never liked the idea of putting that amount of pressure to the piston and rod by adding a rope down into the cylinder and binding the engine up to remove items.
Those small rods are fairly fragile and can bend.
Here is the tool I mentioned earlier I made, but the old prop idea works just as good.
