Nice work there Denis, coming along nicely. I really admire you guys for the amount of time and effort you put into building models like this, a real inspiration to us all, that haven't dived into scratch building.

Hi Lads. I have just come accross this and I am very interested in this Bird. Is it built from a plan & if yes where can I get my hands on it. Adrian, Dublin, Rep of Ireland.

Adrian: Its a "Plans" built kit. You can get the plans from Kerry Sterner at the below site;

http://www.ussimjetllc.com/home.html

This site actually has no info on the vampire (dont know why) however if you E-mail Kerry at the address for U.S. Sim jet he will send you all the info and pricing. He also sells fibergalss parts, (nose: canopy ect. and !!! offer a "short Kit" which is what I purchased.

I must say the plans are one of the most complete I have ever used, you wont be disappointed

Thanks Denis. I seen an 80-odd ins jet model of the Vampire fly at Woodvale UK back in 1997 and fell in love (if I can use that word) with it and have been looking out for a kit ?. Thanks again for the info. Will stay in-touch. Adrian. My Club Web Site in Ireland: www.rwmac.com

Probably like you: dont care for present jets F-14 F-18 ect. I have a passion for the 1930-1945 stuff. When encouraged to do a jet I told a friend "find me a Gloster Metor or a DeHavilland Vampire and I'll do one: well the next day he gave me the info on the "Sterner" vampire. So there.!!! Although I didn't do a build thread, please feel free to contact me for any references on building or well what ever goes with it

The plans from Kerry Sterner show construction of the A and the B model both.

Anyone using a Jetcat 120 in this jet. If so did you have to modify the rear two bulkheads to accept the thrust pipe please?

It,s a pitty when a high profile builder and modderler takes your money for plane canopys back in may and you cant get a reply or canopys for love or money HAVE HAD TO STOP the build.

****, hate to see that post. I have 2 canopies and one intake pair i'm waiting for. That is sad, and yet another story of lousy customer support in the rc business. Its MANY of them.

Here's a few picture from our first two days building. I must say, it is a very good kit. The fit is just perfect on all the parts so far. Its a great way of building a fuselage.

oistein,

Your a lucky man, your pics are making me jealous. I'm desperately waiting on a set of plans and parts to start building the 1/5th Vampire. Kerry was great on the phone and told me he also had a spare laser cut kit when I spoke to him and I hope to get it from him. Trouble is I have been waiting since the end of June for him to send it, and each of the last few times I've spoken with him on the phone he has said everything is ready to go, but nothing so far. Last phone call to him he said he would have to look into it as there was nothing sitting around waiting to ship[] I know he is extremely busy with his regular job and then the turbine business, and that there was a hold up getting some items from someone else who makes them for him so hopefully the planets will align and I will get something to start building from him soon. I hope you receive your parts soon also.

Keep up the good work and please keep posting your build pictures.

We ordered the wood formers cut by Belair models in the uk. He delivered promptly, although he could not deliver the canopies and only one air intake kit as he is waiting fro Sterner to ship the rest to him. It looks like that might take a while. I have modeled both the intake and the canopy in solid works so i might get a friend to mill forms and plugs for me so that i will just make my own. Keep you posted on how that goes.

A friend of mine has the 1/4 scale and it flies so nice, i also met a guy in sweden few weeks ago with the 5th scale one and it looks as good. Looking forward for this plane and it is so far a joy to build.

Hello fellas,

I have had to place a standown on all my Vampire offerings as I have no resources available to manage the production and shipping of these items. My apologies for the inconveniences this has created. Having said this, if you will kindly forward your full contact and shipping information, I will have someone forward what you are in needed of as to Canopies and Inlets. If you have a standing order w/ Belair (Inlets and or Canopies) and have paid Belair for these items, they will be sent directly to you at no cost.

To be clear, until further notice, no further plans or parts will be available for the next several months while we seek out and put into place a resource to properly manage these offerings as my best efforts on a good day have fallen way to short of expectations as my priorities and commitments in other areas have changed significantly in 2012. Once we have a person committed to this, we will also release my DH-110 Sea Vixen design as well.

Dave G., I will email you this evening as I have an update for you as well.

Please forward all requests to [email protected]

Thank you for your understanding.

Kerry S.

I paid and ordered 2 x canopies in April 2012 through Belair and Mr Sterner has on numerous times said they had been shipped. No tracking notice ever sent to Belair or I (I can supply all emails as to promises). So still at this stage 90 pounds down the drain. I'm glad I never order inlets along with them.[]
