This may be a dumb question but oh well. My savage came with a bottle of oil but it isn't labeled. Is this shock oil or air filter oil? I'm assuming it's air filter oil.

If its thick and sticky, it's air filter oil. If its pretty thin, and not sticky, it's either after run oil or shock oil. Shock oil is usually clear. Air filter oil comes in a plethora of colors. Red and orange are typical though.

NOT a dumb question at all. I just got one and was wondering the same thing. Seems way to thin for air-filter or shock oil...and because I'm unsure, I'm sure not putting it in my engine.

The viscousity of it seems like bearing oil, to me. If you find out, PM me, and I will do the same. ;-)

What color is it? I'm guessing its red or orange. I'd suspect ARO, but I have never seen a RTR car or truck come with ARO. Only air filter oil.

its see through im not sure what it is but im pretty sure its shock oil.

See pic below. I'll probably call HPI this week to clear it up. ;-) If I had to guess, air-filter oil, but as noted the viscousity is very thin and it's not sticky, so probably some cheap-ass air-filter oil.

Pretty sure it's extra shock oil,

My big bore shocks came with 2 bottles just like that one,

Air filter oil is thick and sticky

That is shock oil. I know because it came with my ss shocks when I bought them off ebay.
