RE: JC Rabbit 100 question
No it does not have internal solenoids and the weight is turbine only. I would suggest a King Tech K100G it is all internal and for $1850 you can't beat it especially when it's $1000+ less than Jet Central.

RE: JC Rabbit 100 question
I've got one. The solenoids are external. It's a really light engine to begin with but I'm not sure if the weight rating includes the solenoids or not. The Kingtech mentioned above is also a great engine but I'm absolutely blown away by the Rabbit 100. Starts every single time and is ultra lightweight overall (which was very important to my project). Excellent acceleration as well. I went with the Rabbit simply because the fuel consumption is excellent and the engine is lightweight. All internal components would have been nice though.

RE: JC Rabbit 100 question
I bought a K100G from Henry at Modellbau and received it 2 days later. I ran the engine it is awesome and throttle up is instantaneous. I bought then engine when it was on sale at Modellbau I am sure you can probably get the sale price because I know a buddy of mine that bought one yesterday and Henry was nice enough to extend him the sale price

RE: JC Rabbit 100 question
I would go Kingtech before Jetcat for sure on this one. I've seen too many threads on here about the P100 having issues. I was really on the edge between Kingtech and Jet Central. Can't go wrong with either.

RE: JC Rabbit 100 question
Thanks David I sent Henry an email and to my shock he answered the email at 10:00 pm and I placed my order and got the sale price. Many thanks to Modellbau and to you David for mentioning this sale. Any extra money in my pocket is great.

thanks guys. Leaning heavily towards Kingtech K100. Not the prettiest, but relatively cheap & reliable from what I can find

RE: JC Rabbit 100 question
Sorry Mark, but you are wrong. All versions of the Rabbit will run on diesel... mixed with 2.5% synthetic oil.
Also, when comparing weights, I see no point in adding battery weight as every installation may be different. Most valves are the same, so a comparison of just the turbine weight is more meaningful, as far I am concerned.

RE: JC Rabbit 100 question
Hey Dan, if you go by turbine weight won't the rabbit weigh less (compared to K100/P100) because the solenoids are external. I may be missing something, but it appears all turbines should be weighed by "on board/flight equipment" minus battery. That way it's all apples to apples as far as weight goes. It'd be nice if all specs were standardized across the board also

Good point. I thought it was not rated for diesel. Good to know.

For me service is more important then all the other factors. I was having problems at Kentucky Jets and Eric gave me a loaner unit and sent mine in for service. After driving 15 hours for an event it would have been a huge let down not to fly the whole week. Also I got it all at no charge. Any other turbine I would have been not flying. JC goes to many events and keeps all thier customers happy. Eric is the man!

RE: JC Rabbit 100 question
I am not saying which one is better, but only wanted to point out the rabbit is physically smaller than the K100 by quite a bit. Here is my rabbit next to my K80 which is identical in size to the K100.
Here are some more facts/differences of my K80 vs the rabbit, which I assume would be similar with the K100:
Rabbit starts twice as fast for some reason, not a big deal but something to note.
K80 is quite at full throttle, barely here it 100 feet up.
The rabbits is much louder at full throttle. This is good or bad depending on what you want, I like noise!
The Rabbit's ECU is locked down and if it gets out of whack you need 4-5 bad starts to get it to learn the right parameters again. The K80 you have full control.
Oh, one other odd difference. For kero or Jet A, the rabbit only needs 2.5% oil, the K80 needs 5%. I run 5% in my rabbit because I dont want to keep two fuel jugs.
If they would of had the K100 6 months ago I would own that instead of the rabbit for sure. I love my K80 and I feel like if I lose it in a crash I can replace it. The rabbit at 2800 is a hard loss to take.
One other thing, Kingtech' s support cannot be beat. I've heard a lot of good thinga bout jet central but I had a hard time getting help when my rabbit kept flaming out due to a bad lipo. After a month or so I did get a new lipo and all is well!.
I will only buy kingtech from now one. Now they just need a 120 sized turbine!

Unlike the Rabbit, the K100 will run on diesel and 2 cycle oil...and it does not affect the warranty. For myself, I get diesel for free and the cheapest kero around is 2.50 a litre (twice the price of diesel fuel) so it is a no brainer. I have used my 170F on both kero and diesel and I cannot tell a difference between the 2 fuels. (it actually starts smoother on diesel and i get a bit more white smoke upon shut down)

RE: JC Rabbit 100 question
Both are excellent engines and the kingtech is one amazing value at the price. But I also wouldn't trade in my Rabbit. It's a work of art. If cost is a major factor you won't be dissapointed in the Kingtech but if money is a bit easier to come by, the Rabbit is stunning.

RE: JC Rabbit 100 question
The weight of the Rabbit 100 includes the starter. This engine is very small for the power it puts out. It flies my CARF UF like one of my friends old Flash with a Modellbau 750 boosted to 22-24 pounds.

So are all King Techs and $1000 cheaper with lifetime warranty as well

I will say most of the people I talked to with them love them. I like the fact that they are making turbine flight possible for people that dont have alot of $$.

I'm looking for a turbine to go in an Elan I just got. I hear great stuff about the Rabbit, and two guys in my club have them and rave about it. But dang, at $200 more than a P100RX, the Rabbit seems pricey to me.
The K100G looks great, but wow, is that a big engine or what?! Thanks for the pic, Essyou35! With an engine that big, I might as well pull the P120 out of my L39 and put it in the Elan!

You would LOVE the Rabbit... bar none!
Comparing the others to the Rabbit is like comparing a Pink Hello Kitty Tank to a Ferrari...LOL
