TMart Rotor VII Coaxial Helicopter.
Today I received the Rotor VII Coaxial Heli from www.tmart.com for a personal review so here goes. To begin with, it's pretty much the normal coaxial 3.5 ch heli in that it uses a small motor on the tail for forward and reverse, and uses motor differential to pivot and turn. It has a 2.4 ghz transmitter that apparently has some sort of telemetry showing height, speed, direction and signal strength. The heli also has several led lights that really accentuate it. The transmitter has dual rates.
The helicopter has a built in 1s lipo that is different than anything I've seen in that it's a round lipo that is 1100ma. The first flights are showing an average 7 minute flight time with a 30 minute charge. That is about the only drawback with this heli if taken at face value. In some respects it's superior in the fact that it has telemetry, average in the way it's controlled compared to others in it's class and somewhat average in that you can't really change batteries for multiple flights. This is fairly normal for helis in it's class. There is a tray in the bottom so you could put in a 1s lipo from another source but you would probably have to change to jst connectors.
The heli weighs in at 8.6 oz. Not a featheweight but not a porker either. Although this heli is 2.4 ghz, I would not personally recommend flying it outdoors unless the winds are very light. Since it's mostly plastic construction I would also not fly it outdoors in freezing weather, although it does appear rather robust compared to some I have flown.
The overall length is 17 inches with a rotor span of 13 inches.
It comes packed well in a box with carrying handle and comes with two spare rotor blades and one tail rotor. The 110 volt charger works well also. At a price of 59.99 with free shipping it's a pretty good deal compared to other helis in it's class. http://www.tmart.com/107-35-Channel-...e_p159279.html
The controls on this helicopter are normal for any other 3.5 channel heli. Throttle only on left stick and right stick used to control right, left, backward and foward. The helicopter is easy to control, although I must say I'm a bit embarrassed as to my fumbling with it as I've moved on to 6 channel helis so going back to a coaxial that uses the right stick for direction is a bit alien to me.
All things considered, this is still a good beginners helicopter for those that don't want to spend a lot of money but still want to get a feel for how helicopters operate and want something that's easy to fly. This would be a good start for those wanting to buy a decent beginner heli for their child for Christmas to introduce them to the joy of rc flight without breaking the bank.
