RE: BVM F-100
Hi Rainer,
Thanks for sharing. Like others here, I can only marvel at your work. I could not guess at how you made that seat so realistic, even the fabric looks scale.
Please keep posting your progress, and should you care to share how you create these parts, I would love to know..
Roger

RE: BVM F-100
The rear seat is almost finish. There's still a little to be done (parachute bag with harness, handgrip lock lever and seat belts).
Pics of progress follow soon.

RE: BVM F-100
1) The body is done from 1mm composite plates (the rounded back plate is 0.5mm because 1mm is to stiff to bend).
The bar at the back site is a fillerpainted balsa strip. To bending a nice radius the wood have to be a little wet.
2) The tirangle wood sticks makes a symetric building of the head cushion very simply & quick.
3) The "anodized" screw nuts are mill from a2mm composite plate. Painted silver and then blue transparent. The finish painted nuts wipe with
a cloth (drenched in silver color) for the vintage effect. The pipes are donewith 1mm messing tubes (soft anneal with a burner & painted after bending).
4) At this piece was the challenge, to become a "realisitc look" of the pipe/arch. Just bending or buckling a wire gives not a scale effect and looks sh***. (The pics shows how doing).
5) To "rape" the very small innocend decals need a little courage but it's necessary for the authentic look. Also a perfect brushed radio call no. 948 with sharp lines
kills the real look. Here was the trick, to adhere the stencil very softly. For the soft adhesion and the cloudy letters ipainted first the stencil at the adhesive side very very thin with filler.
The same for lettering at the seat belts (The high of the letters is 2mm).
By the way: The seat cushion is done with thin foam rubber & a pentax lens cleaner cloth.

I suspect Rainer might work at CERN. His parts must be the result of a nuclear science experiment!!
Seriously Rainer. Amazing work using traditional materials. (No 3D printing).. Please keep posting photos and your techniques. (Not that I could attempt to emulate.)

Scott, those are two very nice F-100's. My goal is to have a second one in the next couple of years...

Gary,
Following up on your Flite-Metal order delivery. Did you receive it yesterday? Tracking report indicated it arrived. Hope it was
not hidden like an Easter Egg around your lawn somewhere UPS thefts are up this year...people following along behind UPS
delivery trucks...
Wonderful hot section preparation! You and Greg have that art down to a science.
Rainer...That is an excellent idea that I think I will use in our B-47's. I need only print instruments on transparency then do a
sandwich within panel with LEDs behind. We have large format color instruments in the pilot trainning manuals.
Merry Christmas to everyone...

The elevator is covered with flite-metal and ready to weathering.
The number of rivets (3012) and screws (548) and the correct position are like the full size F-100 and absolutly scale.
