Default Why do nitro racers go off and on with the throttle?

I'm only racing electric now and I see a lot of other electric racers let off the throttle smoothly and smoothly back on. I hear nitro car engines rev, idle, rev, and then idle. I usually don't hear nitro engines smoothly slow down. Is there something with nitro engines that you should tap the throttle instead of moving the throttle smoothly?

It's called blipping. You do it in the air to raise or lower the nose, or combine it with steering to tilt your car left/right. As for on the ground, there is really no reason to make smooth transitions as you're throttling up. Punch the throttle, car is instantly at near top speed, let off the throttle and it will coast quite a long ways without needing more throttle. Blip coming out of a turn and you're already at another corner.

On the track I run at I have tried pressing full throttle right out of a turn and I spin out. And this is the turn right before the straight away so I'm able gradually get to full throttle and stay there for a couple of seconds before the next turn.

electrics accelerate faster, could this have anything to do with this? The noise of nitro makes it more noticable that someones blipping the throttle

Traction..

The power to weight ratio of a 1/8 buggy for ex. is probably ten times that of a real car. Somebody else can work that out: a buggy weighs about eight pounds, and realistically has, say, 1.5 hp. What would a real 1:1 buggy have for a power to weight ratio? Then go from there to figure out the difference..

You just can't stay on the throttle through turns and stuff without spinning out with these overpowered RC's.. So yeah, going through rough stuff, I anyway blip it, just because I'm being cautious and don't want to get bent out of shape. If the topspeed of a 1/8th nitro buggy is 40mph, that would be like 320mph in a 1:1 car - in a 1:1 offroad buggy.. The acceleration is proportionately silly too..

It sounds cool.
Nitro sounds cool to begin with, but when you hear - WAAP WAP WAP, WAP WAP WHAAAAAAAAA!!!
That sounds even cooler.

I love it when a nitro guy plays with an electric for a few laps, very funny. Hard to break the habit once you're in it.

I pump the throttle thru the corners to keep engine rev high at same time keep tight line. More engine rev = quicker acceleration out of the corner.
