PKFW IV Ausf K mit schmalturm und KWK75/L70
So I see a few builds lately and there all great stuff But I have become bored with my builds, Tamiya out of the box, semi modified, HL wth DBCRC2 and all sorts of upgrades even a Stug IV thrown in for good measure. I know .............How about a paper Panzer and since I'm partial to
the Panzer IV ,well........ At one sight I found a PIV with the Panther F turret and another the Krupp proposal for the Ausf H model with sloping armor on the sides why not combine the 2??
So here's the build of the tank that never existed. Start with the HL PIV, add a Asiatam Panther F turret add some plastic sheet what could be easier?
Start by chopping up the superstructure and adding the hatch section from a surplus King tiger superstructure.
Here's the starting point more later

Little bit more done today! Added the glasis plate and the side armor plates. I made a small oops though I forgot the driver/ R/O hatch angled down and had to add some fillers to the side/top as the angle left a bit of a gap. That's what files and putty are for right [[&:]] Here's the progress

Well, he isn't using paper on his paper panzer anyway. Remember that prior proper planning prevents piss poor performance. Like I have never had to use filler and files myself.LOL

Yesterday wasn't good at all my back was killing me but my chiropractor fixed it and i'm good now and I had to let putty dry anyway.
I ground away the PIV turret ring since it doesn't fit the schmallturm and filled the hole and any gaps and filed it smooth, boring but necessary.
I then cut a hole with the dremel for the hull machine gun bubble and installed that. Easy peazy, I do like the dremel tool.
The turret I put together a year or so and it needs to be opened back up to install recoil and elevation but here's what it looks like.

That brings me too a question for the esteemed forum members. Has anyone run this set up successfully: HL monkey metal gear boxes with 400 speed motors, RX 14 board and DBCRC2? And had the board live? I know it outdated but since the budget is miniscule That's what I have at this point to work with. Any answers to this setup would be helpful.

This is pretty cool looking, an alternative to just another Panther F.

Jim,
The RX18 showed up today Thanks again
I started making the fixtures for elevation and recoil along with the mounting tube for the IR bulb. I tryed something different to get the tube in the mantlet which is very small and it didn't work. More putty and it came out OK. As you can see from the first pic there's not much to mount to and while larger than PIV turret not a lot of useable room once you factor in up and down along with recoil.

RE: PKFW IV Ausf K mit schmalturm und KWK75/L70
Ok I've been a little busy the in last week but I got back on this. The original intent was to make the elevation arm from the joints previously show, they didn't work, too long. So after some trial and errorI put together a C shaped channel arrangement that seems to put up with my test abuse(nothing worse than a droopy barrel). As you can see there's not much to work with on the trunnion mounting area but it's solid now. That and some minor turret floor surgery to get clearance for the servo recoil. Along with mounting the HL elevation unit the inner turret work is now done

Mike, that seems simple enough to work. I don't know of anything else you need to put in there other than the barrel flash. Keep chugging along on this you "Little Engine that Could."
