James, seems to me that a plastic tube (ABS) is more prone to wear, especially on planes that are flown hard. Do you feel that the ABS is superior over bearings?

You said all what I want to say. I really really agree that elevator should be bearing.
Whatever material used for this elevator support, at the moment this elevator is very stiff without any modify.
I'm wondering what Mr,Liu did do his jet, and configuration.

By the way James, can I also buy elevator support parts with bearing to modify it like old version style same as Fenders's one?

Hey suhakkogi, give it a try, It can always be changed later and that way you can make your own determination on the new design. I am a product of tradition and just like when 2.4ghz started people were very reluctant to switch over. It could be a solid design for this application, and if it does work its kinda a good thing since you lose some weight from the wood/bearings of traditional setups.

The only downside would be you might see the 'curved slot' above and below the elevator because your moving away from the thickest part of the surface (pivot point)

The only problem with that the further u move away from the shaft the more the more travel required and u can only cut a small slit for servo arm.

If you cant get enough movement with the servo further away, then for me it's not a viable way of doing things.
I really hope the smal F-18 doesnt have this set-up, if it does and i cant modify it, it's a deal breaker.

Well if if servo arm sits in the same place it does with the old style rods, torque applied doesnt change and you take out linkage slop. The more i think about that part of the design i like it, but i personally feel the bearing on the shaft is better. Over time there will be some wear, dirt and g loading is normal wear.

We did the maiden of my FEJ 1/6 scale F16 this week - thunderbird scheme. The jet flys very well and I am very happy with the quality and great customer service from FEJ. I really like the honeycomb as I believe it is stronger and lighter than conventional construction (all stress bearing formers and mounts are plywood). Many thanks to my builder (Nir Schweizer), who did another awesome build job for me and also did the initial test flights. Also thanks to all the awesome dudes at Farview Flyers for the advice and help. The jet flys on a Rhino, has DFS lights, and a Tam custom pipe. Weight is estimated at about 35lbs with CG at 220.

Just saying it is well known their service sucks, and when you need parts and you will need parts remember this statement. I wish fender would let everyone here read all the emails from these guys, keith kept every email from both James and Lowell since the first day he started in jets. I'm just glad I called him before ordering. I do wish you good luck and hope my comment is wrong.

but my Falcon goes whit the servos outside, I think that this way is not as good as yours, IMHO a shaft 90degres of servo arm reduces the servo torque, and that shaft is not tight enough, so the flutter can come whit a lot of problems.
please I need to know if somebody did whit the outside servo? How it works? And what hardware use to that.
