RE: RCJi Turbine Test Special Mag 2012
But a gas turbine works totally different to an EDF or ducted fan which require the ram air effect to produce the best power and why ducting is not really an issue on a gas turbine installation.
I think the restriction would need to be extreme to have a noticeable effect.

Actually gas turbines and ducted fans do both work the same! They both accelerate a gas to produce thrust and are both just as vulnerable to thrust variation if that gas flow is disrupted or restricted in any way. Even something as simple as angle of attack and relative airflow direction have an effect, (one of the reasons why Typhoon uses intake varicowls).

Thanks Dave, and good news for anyone considering this, I borrowed my son's IPAD for this one, First you have to download the Jets International APP for 0.99$, but then you get a free introductory issue! So I got the turbine special for 0.99$ US. Not bad.
