hobby king F-104 Starfighter
Hi guys
Does anybody know where the CG on this thing supposed to be? I just bought it from hobby king but the instructions inside are like for mentally challenged. So if anybody had a go with this challenging EDF please let me know.

Fredo, I have not had experiece with the Hobby King model but have flown other F-104s. Be warned, it needs to be farther forward than you may think. If you calculate it just based on the wing shape it will be to far back. The fuselage adds significant lift so that needs to be figured in. And if you fly an F-104 with aft CG, the usual effect is the plane will pitch up and loose flying speed. At that angle of attack the wing will blank the elevator making it even less effective helping to ensure a stall.
The CG in most planes is around 20 to 30 percent of the mean aerodynamic chord. The F-104 usually comes out around 10 to 15%. Hope this helps, maybe someone can chime in who has experience with the HK version. Best of luck!

Hi
If you build it their way and put their battery in, it comes out good.
I marked it and then made sure if I used different stuff, it came out the same.

Thanks guys, I just read all heap of info on RC groups, yes is comes surprisingly about 3/4" benind the leading edge at the root. I think those huge intakes must be producing some lift as well.
I'm about to maiden her, soon as the weather gets better.
Cheers
