New Digital Gear System Failsafe
Our new digital Gear System Failsafe is now available!!
Our new Digital Failsafe is a must have device if you are using Pneumatic driven landing gear. This small apparatus monitors air pressure, and should it fall below a user preset value (30-90psi), the landing gear are automatically lowered before all the air bleeds out of the system. The Failsafe will work with servo driven retract valves as well as electronic valves. Installation is a snap with simple, intuitive programming. Absolutely the finest Gear Failsafe available!

How does something like this handle landing gear doors? Ie. if your doors are set up on a separate system (its own tank, valve, etc) with a sequencer does it detect the pressure in the retracts and then send a signal to the sequencer to start the normal deployment sequence?

more than likely it simply sends a signal to the channel ie. deploy the gear so I don't think it matters what complicated gear door mech or gears you may have setup.
E.G. pressure falls below 50 psi, send signal to RX to deploy the gear.
So basicaly you wire it like this;
1, Gear Signal wire from your servo or electronic valve goes into the dreamworks air fail safe input.
1, Output from the dreamworks air fail safe goes into the Gear channel on your rx.
This basically sets it so that the air fail safe controls the gear channel
E.G. pressure falls below 50 psi, send signal to RX to deploy the gear.
So basicaly you wire it like this;
1, Gear Signal wire from your servo or electronic valve goes into the dreamworks air fail safe input.
1, Output from the dreamworks air fail safe goes into the Gear channel on your rx.
This basically sets it so that the air fail safe controls the gear channel

Sweet. Great product. I have a prototype electronic gearsafe with digital readout in my Electra, maybe it will be released for sale maybe not. I will refrain from posting the brand out of respect. But suffice it to say I will be using a low pressure gear safe from now on having experienced its usefulness on flight 30. If you ever retract your gear only to see it pop back down a few seconds later it will have paid for itself!

It's a pity many of us will need to buy two, one for the doors an one for the retracts. And if it will work when using two will propably wary.
For the second generation we would like it in be a two channel failsafe with a slight delay betwen the two. Just some thoughts :-)
But of course its better to ruin some gear doors than other things on the plane :-)

Not sure I follow Gentleman...
If you have gear doors, then you have a sequencer driving the timing. The failsafe would be placed between the RX and the sequencer. Should a failsafe trigger occur, the gear down signal is sent to the sequencer and your normal gear/door down sequence is activated. No need for two units!?

Just a correction;
Operating voltage is from 4.8~7.4V.
We upped the voltage on the production model, 6.8V max was prototype voltage.

if a power box does sequencing, then you have an TX channel going IN to the power box, the failsafe plugs into the powerbox INPUT and then the TX channel into the Failsafe.
If you use the radio to do your sequencing, which I think only 1 or 2 radios can do that... so you will have to buy two thought not sure if that is wise given they wont sequence.
Personally using a seuqencer is the best option as you can control the doors and gears on 1 channel.
I personally use the UP3 valve. Much better valve than the robart type stuff.
At $82 these are a good deal, a pressure transducer alone is over $60 from my research of building my own, otherwise I would of.
I am currently running my jet without one and will be adding this ASAP. I saw a jet land with gears up on the runway, perfect landing and it still messed it all up.

Hey guys this thing works but you should be cautious when installing. Ablsolutley have your retract servo disconnected when programming (unless travel is equal on both sides). Also it will only program in one direction (gear down lower pw and up is higher) so you may have to replumb or flip linkage around. Otherwise works flawslessly!! I'll make video if enough interest on programming it. Thanks Todd! Wish I would have had one on my bandit . Scott

I, however, have tested it on the bench and it works flawlessly. Setting it up is really very easy. All you need to do is set the travel on your radio (if it is a servo) then hook this unit between the servo lead and the receiver. You then follow the (very clear) instruction paper that comes with the unit to set it up. The device reads the pulse width rate of the gears switch on the DOWN and UP positions (just like the ECU learn feature).
