Default Corsair

Hi,
I bought a Corsair recently, but the person I bought it off didn't know what make it was. I was hoping someone here could help me out in identifying its make?

Wing Span 62 inches
Length 49 inches

Thanks

The only Corsair in this size that I know of with flaps is the TopFlite .61 size. I guess it could be a modified H9, but the markings look like a few of the TF's that I have seen built from kits.

I was thinking it was the Top Flight one, but does that not come with retracts in ready? This one does not have retracts.

It could be a Top Flite kit build, which if built as per the plans, does not have retracts. The newer ARF's have retracts. Your model sure looks like the Top Flite Corsair. Good Luck, Dave

The TF ARF comes with the retract wells installed, but it could have been the kit. With the kit it was your choice on the retracts. Being built from the kit would also explain the shine on the covering. There is one hanging in a lhs that the builder put fixed gear in and used the covering Ultracoat covering. Looks just like this one.

I just went out into the shop and it looks just like my Hanger 9. Are the wing sheeted or just covered with covering, the H 9 is just covered with ultracote with cap stips on the leading edge. The first came out with fixed gear

The covering color and wingtips look very much "kit built".

Most ARFs are built with as little hand shaping as possible. The tips on your Corsair really don't look like that. The shaping done on those tips look very 'shaped'.

It really doesn't look like any of the ARFs available in the last 5 or so years.

Your measurements and most of the decals on the model in your picture match up to the TopFlite kit don't they. I'm pretty sure the kit didn't come with covering.

You got this from Stockport, i went and had a look at it, it wasnt for me, tooooo much effort putting retracts in it, its the topflite gold kit, strange isnt it, if you are local to this model, then you are local to me, and here we are, on a forum that is based thousands of miles away from our homes, funny old world, innit?

I agree with the other posters. My TF came with #410 so it definitely sounds right.

No,
I have bee searching for suitable ones for it. I don't want some cheap hobby king ones that are gonna collapse on me as soon as it touches down, but I also don't want to spend way too much on something that's not needed.

I use the H9 all metal rotating retracts in my H9 Corsair, no probs whatsoever and with some aftermarket oleos added, she looks good.
Mine is here

I'm just finishing the TF gold kit for a club member and if your cowl is two piece (cowl and mounting ring) it is probably TF. The decals are the same as ours. We used Robart retracts and they operate fine but it hasn't been test flown yet. Winter is here in upstate NY, it'll be a long wait for our maiden. Good luck with yours.

I've been looking at the robart retracts, they're quite expensive the ones i've seen. Am I looking at the right ones for around $140?
