Having spent a good part of my AF career maintaing the SR-71 sensors, I will admit I'm partial. It still holds the speed record.

... I cannot decide ...

Lots of people say the Spitfire is the most beautiful aircraft ... but WHICH Spitfire model?
In the Spitfire family, I'm torn between a few of the Griffon powered ones: Mk XIV? Seafire Mk 17? Seafire Mk 47?

OK the only reason that I mention this is because of the nickname that it had.... I was a crew chief on the C-124...you know a million and a half rivets flying in loose formation., and it wasn't one of the slickest things in the air ...if you know what I mean.

It HAD to be the slickest thing in the air! Covered in that much oil NOTHING would stick to it!

I would have to vote for the WACO YMF-5. It has to be the sexiest bipe ever built.
Had the pleasure of flying in a new Super WACO YMF-5D a couple years ago and it is a sweet ride. Something great about flying in an open cockpit plane.

If aircraft were women, the T-38 Talon would be Cheryl Tiegs. Timeless classic beauty.

I am with you dude.

All the aircraft mentioned so far share a common feature: They are slick, smooth-skinned metal birds. My idea of beauty is a bit different.

QUOTE: "I'm not one to fawn over airliners, but I think you got to add the Conny to the list. Long legs, big cans, and plenty of curves - there's not a straight line on it. To me it seems to have an iconic art deco feel that will never be outdated. " Bill

I knew Conny, She was a show girl LOL!!

Seriously, I was able to see one at Dulles airport many years ago. Beeeeeee utiful airplane

Great thread!  I like the mig 29 for jets and how about the northrop xb-35 flying wing for airplanes.

For jets, my hands-down favorite is the early 747. For all time, my pick is the Boeing model 299. Sleek and polished, just as they ought to be.

Modern Era A=10 Warthog, FA-18C ,F-14 /F-15 Classic ERA, P-51 , P-47'', P-40 F-4U Corsair, B-25, B-17 spitfire, hawker hurricane, OH hell I like em all they are all unique and equally appealing in their own way
Yea, I agree, like women. About women, my old pappy use to say they are like boats, turn them upside down and they all pretty much look the same. Same with airplanes I guess, except the P-38. just sayin. wallace.tharp

Guy in the German Air Force in my R/C club, ARCS, flew Tornados, F-16s and the T-38. He just loved the Tallon and says it has about the truest feed-back of any jet aircraft he has flown, no surprises when it wants to stall, or sink, she tells you. She even tells you when it's going too fast. No wonder it has been the USAF jet trainer of choice for some 40 plus years!. NASA astronauts always flew them too. We must have had 70 0r 80 of them when I worked at "Willie," Williams AFB, AZ in 1968 thru 70. wallace.tharp

J3 Piper Cub, have one from parkflyer to 1/4 scale. Low and slow no other way to fly. Second would be the corasir, love the gull wings.

Happy flying to all from sunny AZ[8D]
