JMA TOPGUN 2013 MAY 18/19
Pat Barnes has once again arranged the date for JMA TOPGUN, it will take place over the weekend of May 18/19 2013. It will be the same format as last year, club day on the Saturday so you can fly what ever you like with jets only on the Sunday. Last years event was very well attended and we had good weather for both days, i hope this is repeated for 2013!
The details of this event have been posted now as i have had many questions about the date of next years event and i am aware that people are wanting to organsie their diaries for next year, the booking list will be opened at the beginning of january. For those who are thinking of attending but have not been before, the event is organised by the JMA and a handful of resident members of the Royal Navy Model Aircraft Association which includes Pat Barnes, 'Fez' Parker, Pete Disney and myself. Royal Naval Air Station Merryfield is situated in the heart of the Somerset countryside, it is a satellite airfield to the main air station at nearby RNAS Yeovilton. It is a perfect venue for a jet meeting as many who attended previous events will testify. It is an aviation training area for the resident squadrons at Yeovilton as well as many visiting aircraft. The only major building on the site is the control tower which is in the no fly zone anyway, the only obstacle you have to avoid is the deck!! There is plenty of camping, hotels/B&B's in the area so accomodation will not be a problem if you are wanting to come for the whole weekend. The airfield is easily accessible and is only 10 miles from junction 25 of the M5 and a stones throw from the A303.
The Topgun part of the weekend will be held on the Sunday only, as before this will not impact on the flying as there will be no slots or static judging and is a flying only event. It was felt that for the scale models this would be a better approach due to the large number of very nicely finished/detailed ARTF kits available aswell as models that are built for others, it also makes things alot easier all round as it cuts out a lot of the complications. As before a donation will be made to Royal Naval Benevolent trust http://www.rnbt.org.uk/
I have attached a few pictures from last years event . . . . . . the Jetrebel may be there this year giving it scale death! and Tancock might get there in time to get the wings on before the light fades!

We would be very happy to have 2 meetings a year at MF, but we need to consider the other airfield users and events booked in so afraid just the one formal jet meet next year.
Plenty of accom available in the local area.........only 6 months left to book!

Booking for this event closes on Sunday May 5th, no entries will be taken after this date.
For anyone that maybe interested, i have booked a table at the 'Bell' which is where we all were last year. The Landlord will be sending me a menu closer to the time which i will distribute to all those wanting to attend. I have booked a table for 25 which is what we had last year but i am trying to get a good idea of numbers in case we will be needing more room! Please PM or email if you are interested.
FAO John Sanders: If you are coming and you want me to book your room for you, just let me know.
