Jetlegend T-45 Hawk

RE: Jetlegend T-45 Hawk
I really can't answer, as I never used crow/reflex. I do know that some folks who use it, use it as a mix during flap operation.
I don't know the combination of the mix deflection.... It can vary for different airplanes.

RE: Jetlegend T-45 Hawk
After re-reading the post above regarding reflex, thanks for the confirmation. Such a mix is new to me!
I am repainting this Hawk (RAF Squadron 19 90th Anniversary colors) It would be nice to see the modified square tips to compare to what I have? Perfect time for me to make the change if I need to!
Thanks

RE: Jetlegend T-45 Hawk
Sure would like to see a picture of the GJC modified wing tips
Also, anyone have a set of elevator linkage arms or maybe a modified assembly they want to sell?
TIA

Here are some picutes of my T45 with the GJC modified wing tips. The GJC mods do make a difference. I flew the model with and without the GJC mods and I liked it better with the GJC mods. The GJC vortex generators also help as well as add a scale appearence.

Thank you Paul, my wing is down in the shop right now so I can't check but I believe mine looks just like that. I'll have to double check. I do have the VG's to install.
Great pics! Looks great!

Hi All
I recently received a warning advice from my GJC Rep that the Jet Legend has changed the design of the T45 and BAe Hawk Elevator Stabs to a composite material called Airex Foam and that these new stabs are not up to the same standard as the old balsa / glass construction and should not be used under any circumstance as it could cause total loss of the airframe.
Has anyone else received this advice or experienced an issue with the stabilisers ?
I've just finished by T45 that I purchased in July and I have the airflex stabilisers - the main wing is also made of this material
Need less to say I've responded to my GJC Rep and waiting for a fix.
cheers, Michael

They're just slow in responding - believe me I have a lot of experience in this. They will send the parts but the T45 may not be in a production cycle and we may have to wait until they have it in production again.
It's extremely frustrating I know...

My jet is an older kit with the 2nd wing and the plug in vertical stab. I'm lucky to be surrounded by experienced pilots. One of them took the time to rebuild the elevators adding support to the pins. I'm quite confident that he would have done a good job!
The newer ones, judging by the pictures above, definitely look they have "skin" issues!

Hello,
as I know, JL will replace the elevators.
I think, Mike is able to say something about that.
@Miltiadis
Be glad that the elevator didn't broke in the air.
Don't fly with your elevator any more.

Hi All,
We have gotten a message from JL that the replacement stabs that we had ordered would be delivered next week to our company in China. We will be sending these stabs to our customers. I am sure they have made some extra for you if you have not bought it for us. The stabs that we ordered are the old balsa/fiberglass types that have been in the markets for many years prior to using Airex.
Thank you for the patience.
Mike

Only the newest airex stabs had the specific problem. They replaced mine and i have 6 flights from then, without any obvious problems

RE: Jetlegend T-45 Hawk
Hey Guys, I have a problem with my Hawk... When i give more than 1/2 throttle it gains height.
I use a jets munt VT-80 and the trust tube is very good align with the engine. The cg is set at 140mm and i am very happy with that.
what is the best thing to do?
thanks
Miltiadis

if i trim the elevator when i am at full throttle to go straight and level, then it will dive when i will be at 1/2 throttle or less...
the throttle-elevator mix is a good idea.
if i raise the front of the trust tube 3-4mm it will do any difference?

RE: Jetlegend T-45 Hawk
I wouldn't want to deal with this situation, sounds rather dramatic!
There was a post by someone in this thread regarding the engine mounting rails being out. If your engine rails are out and your thrust tube is in line with your engine, I'd suspect you are on the right track! Adjusting the pipe without adjusting the engine though may lead to a damaged pipe.
I don't have enough experience to provide solid direction!
I'm interested, please keep us updated. I will be mounting my engine soon!
Good luck
Steve

RE: Jetlegend T-45 Hawk
Hi All
I've read these threads numerous times and maybe I'm not getting it but is an 8kg turbine sufficient to get the T45 off a grass field ?
I'm deciding between the Jets Munt VT80 and Merlin 100X.
I've weighed my T45 and will everything minus fuel and turbine, the weight is ~ 6.5kg
I'm allowing 1.2 kg for turbine and 2kg for fuel and 0.5kg for miscellaneous (eg batteries) to end up with a target wet weight of 10 kg or under, hopefully 9.5kg
The M100X seems overkill but then I keep reading of long take offs and others also unsure of whether 8kg thrust is sufficient for grass strip
cheers

RE: Jetlegend T-45 Hawk
H,
I flew mine with a P 60, but not from a grass field. Finaly the low power costs the life of the T-45 during flight in a windy day.
I think, with a VT 80 it will work, but I would take a Merlin (VT 100).
Power for take off out of grass is never bad.
My new one get a VT 100.
