I guess the general public wants to know how much R&D you guys do before releasing these to the public. I know that they are imported from Europe I think.

airborne,

We are hoping to convey the amount of effort and testing that went into this development before we released to market. We've been working on this project in particular for 2 1/2 years.

They are our design, they are not in fact imported but manufactured according to our standards. That's why we back them by our name - Evolution.

Thanks.

I'm hoping my backordered engine comes soon from Horizon....I'm looking very forward to getting my hands on one of these ! I called yesterday to check on the estimated time of the backorder and the gentleman that helped me on the phone said hopefully by the end of the week. I sure hope so........ My favorite planes to fly are in the .40-.60 size range but I just don't like the slime, and batteries for electric are pricey. If these work out I might put one on my Lanier Stinger 2.

I think that if this engine performs as it should, it will be a very important addition to the market. .60 sized planes are great for everyday throw around practice. Nice to only have one fuel can.

I have no doubts that you guys do your research. Honestly I have switched to JR and have flown many a Horizon Hobby product over the years. I am thinking about buying the DX18QQ. Seems like an amazing value for a TX with so many features.

I'm wondering if this engine has enough stuff to pull my Tiger 60 around? It has a have a very tired 91 4stroke in it that I need to replace.

Tiger 60 was actually built to fly with a .46-.60 2 stroke, I bet it would fly just fine.

Exactly what I was wondering. In my case I've pulled a Saito .91 off of an old 4 Star 60 to use on a Sig 1/5th scale Cub. I was wondering how well the 10cc Evo would do on the 4 Star 60?

Well, I hope I won't be disappointed! I was tempted to wait and see what other's "real world results" were first, but I took the plunge and ordered one from Horizon today. It should be here Friday and mounted on an airplane in time for Sunday flying! Wx permitting, of course...

I'm not sure about the Four Star but it doesn't take much to get a Tiger 60 in the air.

Again, an ignition BEC might be the best bet here. I have not been brave enough to try one yet, but there is one hanging on my board in the shop. It seems another move I will make this off season is to start converting to Lifepo or A123 batteries. Should be a good combo with the IBEC. There just will not be enough room in my plane for all that stuff otherwise. Kinda wonder what size tank is recommended?

Good point about considering LiFe for this application. I've been thinking about it in general but haven't pulled the trigger. Might be this is the time.

The ignition that comes with this engine is 2s LiPo or LiFe ready and there is no need for a voltage regulator. We have been doing most of our testing with a 2s LiFe battery almost exclusively for its size, price and convenience.

I just might have to set up my trusty old TF Contender with one of these engines. The Contender was originally designed for a .60 but flies fine on a .46FX. This new 10cc might be just the ticket!

I have ordered one for my Piper Pawnee which flys great on a 46.

Hey Pete, how would two of these engines fly a 80 inch KMP cl 215. This could be the end of nitro for me excepy for the cottage Hawk Pro Heli.

Has any R&D been done with one mounted inverted (carb down)?

Very curious about that.

Thx

I have been gradually selling off my nitro motors before they become too ancient .the gas is cheap and no mess and walbro is so good.

I think that a pair of these on the CL215 would fly awesome. A couple of bigger three bladed props (12 x 6 or so) would keep the rpm down and the resulting sound would be great. Have fun and post some pictures if you go this way.

Pete
