Default RE: RC Tank F.A.Q.

Question, does the strum. III come with screws in the sprocket wheels?

Sprockets are each held together and attached by a single socket cap screw.

Lamp02 If your sturm is a recent Heng Long purchase you may find the sprocket is held by a hex head rather than the cross head of the old models. shaun

Default RE: RC Tank F.A.Q.

Hi,
Ineed to match up a transmitter with a receiver but don't understand channels vs crystal frequencies.

Here's the receiver i want: http://www.ebay.com/itm/150990903988...84.m1423.l2648
Here's the transmitter Ibought:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=330840216508

My transmitter crystal has a 75.510 crystal but the receiver says it operates on channel 58.
uh, I can assume I need a matching crystal for the 75.510 transmitter but wth channel does the transmitter operate on?

Anyhow it's going into a Tamiya King Tiger 56018 but I've used it on several Tamiya Tiger ones and twos like:
http://madlinux.com/tiger/tamiya/ (That's a Tamiya 56010)

Thanks for your help.

Default RE.RC Tanks F.A.Q.

Panzer IV 's Removel of Road wheels and Return rollers.
Removal of the return rollers is achieved by first removing the outer wheel. the inner wheel then can be removed once you remove the 2mm allen screw holding it to the lower chassis that is hidden behind the return roller mounts. The removal of the road wheels is done quit the same first remove the outer wheel and then the allen holding it to the suspension arms.

Can you use Taigen electronics to build a IR tank?

used valve bedding on gear boxes an then cleaned them up it reduced clash noise a lot, but you must clean them well or bedding will wear gears quickly.

Default Newbie Help

I have recently purchased a Taigen Panzer IV Ausf G Winter Metal Edition off of Ebay as a "new" item which they have added decals to. It came with all the stock items including the 2000mAh NiMH battery. Any how, I then knowing my Newbness went on Ebay again and bought the IMX No. 10525 AC compact charger, which is also featured on Taigen/IMEX, it was "new/old stock" which didn't come with a cord. No biggie I have a cord that fits. Anyway. I charge the cheap battery and it takes way less than an hour to charge. It doesn't seem normal, but I put it in and run the heavy tank outside over some grass which it struggled, but got through and over some pavement. It ran for about 15 minutes tops and the battery dies. I drove it quite a ways, but it still seems like I expected more... is this normal? The battery charged really fast and didn't run very long, but I don't know if it was the cheap battery / heavy tank, the charger, or what or if that is how long a 2000mAh battery lasts in a half metal tank. I plan on getting a 5000mAh soon, but throwing money at a problem with no knowledge doesn't seem to work so far. Any help would be great.

Yes, those 2000 mAh batteries only run a heavy tank for a few minutes. I run 4500 or 5000 mAh most of the time and it gives me well over an hour of run time. Some folks use lithium ion batteries to get more run time with less weight / bulk, but those batteries have special needs to prevent fires. Start a thread in the main tank forum and you will get more responses to your questions.

OOPS, correction, it's the LiPo batteries that have issues with fire, not Lithium ion.

Welcome aboard.

Thank you so much! I tried reading up online about this issue, but it almost seems like a well kept secret or something. I was beginning to think I did something wrong or had a damaged battery. I know i dove into tanking a bit heavy rather than starting with a cheap tank, but I wanted the 1st one to be a bit more special. There are so few resources out to answer such things for people new to RC in general or specifically tanks with the different needs and the sheer weight of the vehicle.

Almost anything you want to know about RC tanks can be found out here. We all love to help new tankers with this addiction we call a hobby. Post your questions in the "normal threads" area and you can get quicker responses.

One of our forum members is a distributor for Taigan tanks, so any question you have about your new tank can be answered by Eric from Imex. He is cool and a tanker too. There are also clubs in many cities around the world so you may be lucky enough to meet other tankers in person to ask questions at a club meet. Where are you located?

Tulsa, Oklahoma. Doesn't seem like much happening here other than 1 guy in OKC maybe and another who made some Youtube videos.

Yeah, that's cool about the Taigen guy. I was kinda naive and saw what looked like a bargain on Ebay for a Taigen that I wanted off their site... sure, I guess I got a deal, but it didn't really save a ton of money versus true tech support. Beautiful paint work right down to the mud. The waterslides the seller put on don't seem to match the tank properly, but he threw in 3 painted crew members which are pretty nice. So, overall I got a bargain I guess. It's just being NEW to RC in general I freaked out when the tank only ran for about 15 minutes.

I don't know of many tankers in OK. The closest clubs would be FRAG in Denver, and some clubs down in Texas.

Yeah, I did a little looking online. Not much, but there is a place here that has an indoor race track. May have to head there and at least check a bulletin board or something.

I swapped out to a 5000mah LiPo. World of difference. Need to have the correct charger for it but they are common as can be these days and lightyears better than NiMH or NiCad.

Default Dklm

Quick question does anyone have experience installing a DKLM recoil unit? I am using an ELMOD Eco board and cannot find anywhere to plug in the unit. DKLM does not provide any instructions with this recoil system. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

I think they have a release lever under the rear edge between the tracks and the body

I have the charger for it but I'm afraid that I will eventually under charge it (a Lipo battery) thereby signifigantly reducing its longevity. Either that, or I might possibly over charge it and it'll start on fire or smoke it. Is there an alarm that I can buy that connects with the battery in a rc tank that will show its charge and sound alarm when it is reaching under chargement?
