Sheeting foam with 2 mil Coroplast? Giant Delta?
Hi all,
As an instantly fuel proof finish is it possible to sheet a foam with with say..... 2 mil coro? Right over the foam? Seems SO easy...sheeted, sealed and color already there!
I'm thinking I could just "flash" one side and use Pro-Bond right to the core?? Maybe 3M 77 spray? Even faster!!
Thinking of a Coro sheeted Foam delta wing like the BTE Vortex only combat proof!!! And BIG.... 84 inch span!!!
Maybe RCS 1.40 for power?
Any feedback? Sheeted foam with the stuff yet? I'm all ears!

Yep, you can do it, you will however need some kind of spar, unless you like really floppy wings. I've got a 60" combat wing i did that way. Its very tough. Let me see if i can find a pic of it.

48 Inch version- Brown Paper WBP
Here's a pic of the 48 version I did last Summer...
BLAST to Fly...
Easy to build...
Just read that 5 min epoxy may be a good way to go in place of the POLY for speed of assembly...mmm
Ok...off to cut and hot wire some foam!!!

WOW!! It flies SOOO GOOD!!
Guys,
This thing flies SO good....I'm amazed!!
Everyone at the field got a chance at the sticks.
On 50% Dual Rates she's like a trainer...on full rates hold on to your shorts! It will do a 10 ft loop...and I like to do them low...right in front of me...by the way...
Who would have thought...now all the guys at the field are wanting to build one...SWEET! We'll get a massive FORMATION of these things...the locals will think it's an alien invasion!!
Sorry for getting off the COROPLAST issue...but this thing went together faster than my DerPlasTic...and flies better (IMHO). Even KNIFE edge!! So trippy looking....
This hobby rocks!
I was just at Home Depot and they sell 4x8ft sheets of 2 inch foam for 12.99. Enough to make TWO of these!!
I've posted a short video, and a couple other pics on my web page for those who would like to see...

Sheeting foam with 2 mil Coroplast? Giant Delta?
Really neat project... I was going to reply to some of the earlier post, but look like I am to late to help out. Nice little video clip on your site, I would like to see it with the throttle opened up. Is it fast, and how does the wind affect it?
I have built some big deltas from coro and they are fun to fly. There is no way mine would have flown with a .47
cool plane

Vertical Performance...
Trust me...you'll be surprised at the vertical performance...
I'll get a good camera person when I get back....
The first few flights have only been done in calm conditions, I'll report on windy day flying habits.
High Flights!

Don't see why not!
I don't see a problem with coro elevons.
However, I haven't seen a spad with that large of control surfaces though...you'd definitly have to do something to stiffen...
That's why this hobby is so awesome....totally open to what you want to try!
I just happen to have had a couple of those thick balsa sheets laying around....quick and easy...

The balsa elevon would be stiffer, but I have used 4"x40", 4mil coro elevons on other large deltas without any trouble so coro elevons would be a viable option if someone wanted to use it..
Lots of fun going on here! great job Herb!

Take a look at the posting date. You're trying to hit web addresses that are between 2 and 4 years old. Things change. Heck, I don't even have my website anymore. You might try emailing the guy if that info is on there, see if that works. Check his profile and see the last time he posted.
Heck, he could be a professional dancer in Vegas now, or a brain surgeon.

Gee! Ya Think?
I guess we're not all as sharp as some others!
Y'all have a good day though, anyway.
For about 3 months out of the year, I'm up at 0500 - start work by 0700 - and finish around 1800 hrs. In the middle of that time frame, I have to photograph just a few hundred kids each day.
My guess is that I wasn't paying real close to too much detail. Thanks for the heads-up.
