Default YA f15

For those of you flying YA F15, I'm curious how much thrust you are using.

Thx in advance...

Bill

I am using a P120sx in mine which is about 30 lbs. I think a lot of guys are using a 160 @ 36 lbs.
The 30 lb hauls it around but the 160 would give better vertical for sure. Those bi pipes seem to take a percentage of the thrust.

I've got a JC cheetah in mine I think it's perfect for it. Any 120-140 oughtta do
Great. A 160-170 would work also but its such a draggy airframe I doubt you'll notice any more
Speed, just vertical

Thx for the input. I have a Rhino turned down to 33# in it. I was thinking about swapping a 28# P120 that I have on the bench...

Thx again...

Bill

I bought a used YA F-15C ARF and am putting the KT-140 in it. Are the factory recommended control throws what everyone is using? Including 45 degrees of flaps for landing? Are you using 1/2 flaps for takeoff, and if so, how much deflection? Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Gus

I used all recommended throws I think I just went half inch more on the stabs. I do use take off
Flaps although they are not needed. I balanced mine about 1/4" aft of recommended and it seems perfect

Hi,

Mine was half inch back from recommended, and it was right at the end of the envelope, and made for great sliding turns with high power/low speed.

I felt like mine was under powered with a Titan (34lbs) so I converted it to twin Rabbits. It became more fuel efficient surprisingly and had lots of vertical as you might expect. All that said I would keep it as light as possible and go with the KT 140G. They are making 33lbs on the test stand at SL.

No on the 80. Yes on firm ground and short grass.

Hi,

The first flight of this iteration of the airplane on turbine power was with an old P-80. It flew fine, though not impressively. I have some video of the ARF on a P-80SE, and I thought it flew great.

Flew one for years on a p-70. Didn't do anything fast, but taught me alot about using the wings. Changed to a p-120 and love it.
Took the flap servos out, never used them whith either engine.
Has anyone mastered using the airbrake on landing?
Kevin
