Hi Jeame do you think you might be offering anything in the 80 to 85cc single range ? there seems to be a real void there as far as china engines are conderned might be something to consider as none of the other china engine manufcturers currently offer anything in this size.

Thank you for your advice, my EME 120 was timed at 35 degrees just as you said. The stock location of the hall sensor only allowed me to time to about 31 degrees so I cut one end of the mount to get more travel in order to achieve 28 degrees. If the rain and snow will allow, I will run her tomorrow and see if anything changed. I used the timing wheel method by printing a wheel from the internet and gluing it to a paper plate. It worked out perfect.

Gents - need some advice. I changed the timing to 28 degrees and tried again. I think something is wrong with the ignition because only one cylinder is firing for quite a while after start up (this is not new, it was doing it at 35 degrees too). Eventually it picks up and I am able to run up to max RPM (still 5600), but idle is rough and then drops a cylinder. I thought I would go ahead and throw in the new iridium spark plugs that I was saving for after break in to see if that helped. No, idle still is a problem, however I did pick up 100-200 RPM on the top end... Compression on both cylinders are excellent, reed valves look fine, so I am thinking bad ignition module. Anyone else have an idea? I have a DA ignition module I am going to try. New motors are not supposed to be such a pain!

You could swap the plug leads. If the misfiring follows the same lead you have a bad lead, broken solder joint (if it uses a resistor), bad cap., etc. I do believe the dual leads are connected to the same hv output but it could have two separate outputs from the step-up transformer.

I had a bad ignition like that. So bad it made the throttle servo go bad from the RFI. The first test would be to be sure the battery is good then swap the leads and plugs as mentioned above. I took the 3W ignition apart. It had a high voltage transformer for each side running off of one low voltage supply. No repairing due to epoxy potting all over it. Bought a new Rcexl and the problem went away. A hose clamp will work for the timing pickup clamp. That is what they send in a universal ignition kit. I have also used one screw and a heavy duty zip tie.

Hello all, so I just came across this thread...great info here. I'm not to clear on the results of the EME60 vs. DA60... are they very compatible ? Will I notice a big difference from a dle55 compared to an EME60 ?
I just ordered a 32%pilot rc decathlon.... its rated at 50-85cc... I was told from Chief Aircraft that a dle55 will fly it scale and a DA60 will definitley have hovering power with a 24x8 prop. Well I dont really want to shell out the dough for a DAif the EMEis very close...I would assume there is much more power in the EME60 as compared to a dle55. I do love my 55's and this wold be the first time buying an EME...but from what I'm reading...sounfds like a score.... Thanks for your time...

The 60 is a good engine. Take the stock plugs and throw them in the trash and put CM6's in. Tail Dragger will be doing that before he ships them from what I understand.

i was going to ask you this before but you didn't say anything about the engine kicking back.i check the timing on the 60 i got and it was set at 35*BTDC.that is to far advance for me and set there they will kick back and run hotter,and not idle as smooth as when set at 28*,but they do have better throttle response set at 35.
i do like the Falcon 24-9 a friend let me try,great speed and pull out,pop tops are much better to,and hovers seem a little more stable.

We talked about putting a Bowman ring in it but I think he's just going to fly it for a while.
They went to an informal event so its probably going to get some good time on it this weekend, I'll report back when I hear from them when they get back.

Hey Closetguy,
I was wondering about the EME60 now. do you think your rpm increased ? do you think it is still getting 300rpm less than the DA60.
I'm asking becuase my friend here might sell me his DA60 as he wants to move up to the 100cc. Hewill probably give it to me ready to go with muffler and all for around $550. it only has 3 gallons through it too.
How happy are you with the EME60 as I'm trying to decide if its worth paying more for the DA60 ( $200 difference I guess for almost new engine versus the EME60 )
