P20 strange happening
I had a flame out on lading on my P20 last week and thought it was a bumpy lading that had pulled the clunk out of the fuel on the taxi back, but this week I could not start at all, got the GSU out and started checking all the usual things, it had lost its settings from the V10 ECU, both the start and main fuel settings had gone below pump run voltage, after checking and resetting the voltage settings with the GSU all now seems fine, this is a first with any of my JetCats and I just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience?
Was this a static problem, not common in the UK? and some how I doubt it was.

RE: P20 strange happening
Mine also did the same thing Pump voltage dropped below idol. and it quit. showing low pump voltage reason it last off. I need to look at the last rpm off, Im thinking it was very low. I wonder why that is.

Its strange, did you happen to have a bumpy landing when this happened? perhaps the jolt of the landing or perhaps static, I am at a loss in reality, but it has not happened again and I have about another 20 flights on it since.

I haven't changed anything and all seems to be well now, touch wood , but I would like to get to the bottom of this dumping of the pump settings so I can avoid the situation in the future, in my case fly off a better field. LOL

RE: P20 strange happening
After 2 successful flights, I charge all batteries. Start start up on the P20 and it turns up to 28000 rpm and fails to accelerate. I shut down and retry again it fails to start. Again "Acc time out". I start to check things. I truly believe that the fuel pump may be involved. I purged the system, and it did purge, but a few minutes later I discover that the pump is not pumping. I go home. Later I go down and take the pump pump out and discover it is not pumping. I force fuel into it with the filler pump. It must have been air locked,I did get it to pump. I ran a quart of fuel thru it just to run it in case it was still Stiff. I'm pretty sure I have it fixed. Check batteries , reset the transmitter, All OK and Purge the system. Try a new start and it acc to 27000 rpm and I again get the Acc time out. The jet is belching quite a bit of Blue flames during the start process. I am getting a red pump on light. As long as the fuel system will Purge, that say that the fuel solenoid is working,Right???
Do you think I need to reset my ECU??? Anyway any thoughts will be appreciated.

As I said in my first post, when I checked the pump voltage on the GSU for some reason it had dropped below its start up voltage, once reset all was well, I suggest you check the pump voltage and see if it has changed?

Mike:
I reset the ECU and It started and ran fine. Scott at Jetcat USA says that he is sure my problem is static from the wheels. What is the fix for that? I'm using 35 year old Dubro wheels and tires and an old Halco gear actually bolted threw the bottom and into the turbine mount.

Glad you got it sorted, but Its strange that is the first time I have had a problem with any of my turbines that is put down to static, I wonder why the others haven't suffered the same fate, including two other JetCat's, also as I said previously mine happened on landing after a particular large piece of hard sheep poo upset the landing run, perhaps the new V10 control unit is more susceptible than the old version to static.
Anyone else from the UK had any static problems with any jet?

Crocend
Don't be concerned it runs beautifully just a small hiccough that was all. it seems to have happened to two people only by the looks of it.

Thanx,
Nice looking little donk but.
What to put it in but have lots of right size planes may be a ParkZone mmmmm Stryker late model,
easy to do.

I have one in a Toki Ducty and a complete set of operating gear in the L39 for a quick change over, have to admit the Ducty is so much fun the change over does not happen often, simple and straight forward, Tx, Ducty, Fuel and Me no need for anything else.

RE: P20 strange happening
I made a successful flight Sunday and on the second start again I get a slow acceleration error. It continue to get it till I reset the ECU. I'm calling Bob again.
I wonder it i ran a ground strap between the turbine and the pump if that would help.

In the UK we use a copper rod to earth out the house supply, you will need a very long piece of green and yellow cable.
I am still leaning towards the V10 ECU being more prone to static than the old V6?

RE: P20 strange happening
Well today we did a static couple of runs idle magic but top end rpm only saw 217000.the next run it only got 193000 rpm.
On one of another start it shut down buy it self LOW BATTERY, put on another batt. run well and started good still did not rev out again 193000
there is no over temp nothing.
Yes checked all the hand held datta readings all set as instructions put it. Purge lines no worries run main fuel line 1200mm length.
Am I getting fuel pressure problems.
PLEASE Help.

PLEASE someone HELP I would like to get to full power RPM this year.
Pump voltage is showing when flat out at 3.4 volts.I have my atv at 100% which it learned is it possible that I need 150% atv.also do I need to have 1200mm fuel line in for the P-20 SX.
Happy NEW YEAR

RE: P20 strange happening
Happy new year to all the jet fuel junkies out there
CrocEnd,
try this:
This procedure should reset the control of the turbine back up to full RPM. The next time you run the motor, hook up the GSU and let the turbine idle. Press and HOLD the "Manual" button. While holding the manual button, throttle up relatively slowly (5 seconds to full power). Leave the turbine at full throttle for 30-40 seconds. Keep holding that button the whole time! Release the button after 40 seconds (wait until “Data stored” will be shown) and retard the throttle, then recheck full power RPM.
ps. this fuel line length is really important to avoid flame outs. Trust me I know from experience [:@]
Cheers,
Ralf
