RE: RCGF Engines
Good Point. Gregg may still have some NOS on this engine. I would call Gregg at BP Hobbies and see if he has what you need. If he does not have what the part you need then your only choice for this engine would be Hobby King. But Try Gregg First.

RE: RCGF Engines
Thanx AHicks. I have not been able to get new replacement parts for the 50cc single engines from RCGF for some time now. I just used up the last of my NOS parts to repair a 50cc "A" model engine for a flyer in Ca. So I am taped out right now. As I said Gregg may have some still. If not we can probably find the left over parts elsewhere (aka) Hobby King or I still have contacts at SV Group that may still make parts for this particular engine.
SIDE NOTE: If I have mentioned this before sorry for the repeat! I have had a lot of repair work lately on engines that have set for a while with fuel in the carb. Some of this repair work might be avoided by running your engine "DRY" after you drain your fuel at the end of your flying day. Remember that the gas we have had to use for some time now has at least 10% alcohol/methanol in it and sometime more. The carb parts that were made to run with gas don't like this much and will go bad faster when left exposed to this fuel combo. This is also the reason we can't get much more than about 6 to 8 months out of our standard Tygon fuel line before it gets stiff and hard. We have developed fuel line and tank stoppers that are better suited to today's fuels but the carb parts are a much harder build.

RE: RCGF Engines
Thanks captmicom. Hopefully I will not need any parts (soon), if this engine performs nearly as good, as my good ol' trusty DL-50 did. So far, so good. After about five years of usage I just put a new seal kit in my DL's Walbro-carb. Other tan that, the motor shows no signs of aging. Still running strong.

The carb for the DLE 20 works quite well on the RCGF 15cc.

RE: RCGF Engines
Hey guys. So i have been flying gas engines for a while now. jc 28cc DLE 20cc and 55cc. iam looking to get the rcgf 40cc tiwn. i need to replace the dle 55 cause it shakes my giant stick to much. all though its a blast with that kind of power. any body have anythoughts about the rcgf 40cc tiwn...or seen one run in person so you could speak of vibration for me. everything ive read about twins is there is less vibration. just wondered what peoples thought was about the 40 twin. i ask as i have never bought rcgf engine before. thanks for your help matt.

RE: RCGF Engines
I find the RCGF 40 to be a very powerful engine. I have not run the RCGF 55cc single up against the RCGF 40cc twin yet. I can tell you that it halls my 90" test bed that weights 18 lbs around like it is nothing. I just restocked on all our RCGF engines and I am down to 1 ea. 40cc twin left. The Scale guys love the RCGF twins.

Note 3: Some of the engine gurus in the forums will tell you there are virtually no compatibility problems with today's fuel and our fuel systems. Just think of them when you are at the flying field fighting with a balky engine because it needs a new diaphragm in the carb that has been damaged by today's gasoline or when you are dealing with a dead stick caused by a stiff fuel line in the tank when you flew inverted. I often repair yard equipment to earn extra money to supplement my income, and fully 90% of the problems I find with the machines are damaged fuel system components.....
Note 4: (Sorry, I just keep thinking of things to add.) This method has the added benefit that your airplane doesn't stink of gasoline during transport nor in storage!

RE: RCGF Engines
Hey av8tor,
Thanx for the tip!! That is not a bad idea..!! With the crap that gets put in to the pump gas these days the white gas would dilute all the "WOODY" stuff left behind from the pump gas on your engine parts and keep them supple until you are ready to fly again. I will give it a try. As for your "STIFF" fuel line and tank plugs, I have a new formula line and plug that is made to withstand the crap in today's pump gas. I have some on a hand pump that is now three years old and it is still very supple. It looks Ugly but is still very flexible. We will have the Watts-UP electric fly at TRCC in Tucson the 16 Feb if you feel like taking a road trip. Come on up and I will show it to you.

RE: RCGF Engines
Hi Capticom and thanks for the comments and the invite. Won't be able to make it to that event though due to other commitments. Also, electrics just don't interest me. I just got through writing to both Model Airplane News and NitroPlanes complaining about their extensive overboard coverage of electric flight, to the exclusion of Glow and Gas powered craft.
Just so nobody can say "Don't knock it until you've tried it", I do have two electric planes that we fly in the evenings after we're done flying the "Big Iron" during the day......
Thanks and take care,
AV8TOR

RE: RCGF Engines
Hi All
Over the years I have tried most all fuels available hear in the U.S. and have had all of the problems mentioned above etc:etc: but about 5 years back my flying buddy and I switched to 100LL Avegas ya it cost about 5 bucks a gal. But it does mot smell does not sour and if I buy gas late in the season and let it sit in my can for 5 + months of winter it works as well as it did when I bought it, Also it does not smell it burnes clean we use 2 mix's 50 : 1 and 100 :1 . Have not had any carb problems as I/we leave them wet have not had fuel lines get hard. but I/we do change them every outher season we have all gasser's 23 CC to 100 CC I am not saying this is the best way only that it wotks vary well for us, and has eliminated our fuel related problems.
Cheers Bob T

RE: RCGF Engines
hey guys just i thought i would update the rcgf 40 cc twin info. So as i told you before i had tested the engine and it ran good. so today before i mounted it to the plane, i thought i would try running it with the carb down to make sure nothing changed. well the engine ran good and still runs good. But i also found out that one of the cylinder heads is leaking fuel. it does not seem to effect the engine that i know of but its brawn new and should not be doing this. seems like there is a seal broke. i bought it at bp hobbies and sent them a email. if the don't get back to me ill call them tomorrow. just though i would let you all know.
