Default Club Night Flying

Anybody want to weigh in on this ? The club I belong to has several members who have been flying e-powered aircraft at all hours of the night. There have been 0 issues so far and everyone is having a good time. This type of flying has really boosted moral and sparked intrest from the general public.

So... If everyone is having fun, it's been safe and hasn't caused problems, what's the issue?

I say put some LED's on an electric plane and go join in on the fun.

Default RE: Club Night Flying

Our club has at least one night fly a season. We all get together and fly mostly electrics with lights...even a few of the tiny small night Vapors since wind is nill at night. Even have a few guys with nitro night flyers...but our club is out in the "sticks" so that doesnt really bother anyone.

I was hooked after the first time I tried it. I personally have 2 night flying planes with plans for a third. My current 2 are a smaller Cap232 profile with LEDs on the edges of the flying surfaces plus the profile and a Kadet Sr that I lit from inside. I am planning on putting LEDs on a stock stryker just to have something a little "faster" to fly in the dark. Also, just bought a Blade mQX that I will probably put some LEDs on and fly it around the back yard at night.

Night flying is just TOO MUCH FUN!

Here are a couple of pics of our night flying...

I have a Parkzone T-28, J-3, Slow-V, Hobbyzone Super Cub, and Firebird Freedom all rigged with Led's. They are a blast to fly at night, especially when you get a bright moon out. I'm still trying to get a good photo of my T-28 silhouetted against  a full moon.

Quads, particularly with a control board that self levels can also be fun at night.

There is no issue for me. I personnaly have two night flyers to date. The reason I asked for the weigh in is because there are certain members of the club I belong that have made negative comments to our Safety Officer. These were comments only, not concerns. I was just trying to get a feel for what other clubs were experiencing. I know that every club has those guys (negative nellies), but has any clubs had any safety issues ? I hate to see a rule made banning night flying at our local club. Thanks for your input.
