OK gang. I want advise on a really nice starter for my larger OS 4S engines like my 155 etc.
my little Sullivan is kinda dieing or just doesn't have enough ummff anymore well it really never did LOL
I don't want a huge one but want more power !!

The PAM-1002B will do what you want.

The 6:1 ratio will start a 150cc gasser. That is what I have now. I run it on a 5 cell LiPo pack.

Looks Perfect ED thanks I noticed the PAM-1002PP $109 has the battery already.
so you got the other one $59 then added a battery? would you happen
to have a picture of it on how you mounted it?

I actually have the larger 6:1 ratio unit now. At the time it was available without the battery for around $100. I got it and added the 5 cell LiPo. I previously had the smaller one and sold it to get the larger one.

That battery should work fine on the smaller, 3:1 ratio starter.

ED I just noticed one more thing there is also the PAM-1002 with a bit smaller cone on it. is that the same>? they both say 3.1
I always use smaller spinners anyways and it cost less

Same starter. The rubber insert is reverseable for smaller spinners. I would get the large cone in case of larger spinners later.

Hear is my starter....it vary versatile, around the house. and it starts all my gas motors including my DLE55,the cone shaft was taken off an old dead Sullivan starter. I was surprised it would turn over the DLE55 with authority....this Bosh has 600in pounds torque some go higher, a lot go lower. It came with 2 18v lith Ions charger and case.

I've been using the Dynatron from Sullivan on 6s Li-Po. It works great for up to a 50cc gassie...

If you check eBay every now and then, they pop up for cheap. I got mine new for 99 but a friend got one off eBay for 40, nearly new. Wished I wooda beat'im to the punch. But I'm very pleased with the Dynatron's performance so 100 bucks +around 40 for the 6s Li-Pois no biggie

Checklst,, I have that drill love my Bosch stuff. I am looking for a smaller way to go I think.

MTK ,, I almost won a Dynatron on ebay a few days ago for $49 bucks looked brand new.

I have been carrying this heavy flight box around for years I just want to lighten up a bit from now on.

The 6S Li-PoI use is2 x 3S 1500ma in series. I've got the bats and dynatron set-up with Dean's connectors eliminating the clunky clips and the long extensionwire. Pretty lightweight and very portable in other words.

The charge lasts several months....I check voltage every month or so and I'm always surprised at howslow voltage is used up in a starter application. In fact since I purchased the Dynatron a year and half ago, I recharged the batteries only twice and I fly a lot. On the other hand, my gas engines seldom need a lot of coaxing; a small bump and they usually start. So glad I madethe switch from glow 4 years ago.This is a simple set-up that works great. As always....YMMV

I am using a similiar setup. I power my Dynatron with 2 3S Lipos in series that are mounted onto the starter with a hokey little aluminum bracket I cobbled together. I rarely have to charge the batteries and my field box is a lot lighter now!

Be aware that the Dynatron contacts like to weld themselves together on 24V, so occasionally when you hit the starter it will just keep spinning. You have to kinda wiggle the hand grip around to get the contacts to separate. Not sure if anyone else has run into this issue, but two other guys at our field that use the same setup have said they experience the same thing.

how do you wire then series ? then how do you charge them
when hooked together like that? at 14 volts?

I am really liking the LiFe battery's could I do that with 2 of these then?

Then you can disconnect both batteries and charge them.

Get 2 3s LiFes and that will give you 19.8V for plenty of power.

I have the Dynatron with the under mounted case for (12) Sub-C Cells, but would like to use 2x (3) cell LiFe's or 2x (3) Lipo's. How did you mount the batteries to your Megatron..?? Pics..??

One thing for everyone to get more power out of your starters that still use the cord as I do. replace the wire o nthe starter with some 12 gauge speaker wire. This will flow more energy to the motor. the starters use 14-16 gauge wire and isnt enough.

Dynatron?? I don't have the megatron.

The Dean's female connectors are each attached to each 3s LiPo. Each LiPo ia accessible for charging independently, in other words. A shorted male Dean's is inserted into the appropriate female ports sideways producing the 6S set-up. There's no need for adapter wires. Everything is done by the Dean's connectors.

Of course that leaves the other set of ports for the starter. The starter cable was reduced to a short stub about 5" long and a male Dean's was soldered to the leads. I simply plug into the open battery ports. Very compact and light. I'll try to post a snap 2nite.

The battery just hangs out in the breeze. A recepticlemight be nice but I don't have one and besides I think itmight get in the way. And if I ever dropped the starter, I think anything attached would break off. As I have it now, even when dropped (I've done it) there's no problem

Who needs a field box? Sullivan Dynatron two 3s in series room for 3 glo starters and the box on the back has a push on push off power supply for electric fuel pump or any other 12 volt need. Leave your tool box/field box in the vehicle unless you need it. Fuel bottle has electric pump built into an aluminum lid.

Thanks, I just made it up got tired of lugging stuff around. I was thinking of designing one that incorporated a handle above the starter with a belt drive and removable cone for even bigger motors yet would retain the small cone at original drive speed for the smaller motors that seem to need faster spin up. Same 12 volt take off for accessories and possibly a quick charge plug for your glo starter. All in one so to speak.
