I hope you get it finished soon and bring it to Danville in May. We are having the 10th anniversary of the RC tank battlefield then. Perhaps you can get a few of the other deep South RC tankers to come with you. We would love to see that beast in person.

10th Anniversary battle? When in May??

This fair weather traveler will have to make that!

~ Jeff

Come on Jeff... you're slipping. May 10th thru the 12th, 2013.

The May event will the a big celebration sponsored by NEAD & HEAT for the Tenth Aniversary of the RC Tank Battlefield in lieu of the Extravaganza. More details to come...

Here are the rest of the dates for the year... mark you calendars accordingly.

Mark your Calendar for the next Radio Control Battleweekends at Danville.

Yesterday, was the day of days as we spent nearly 3 hours at the Honda Dealership getting my wife into a 2013 CRV... this at 10 AM. Man it's nice and will propel us to Danville this Spring as it is carved into stone... I WILL be there this time to battle.

With BlueTooth, rear view camera and on screen display for all the drivers and passengers needs, it is sweet. But I still drive Chevy's. It's the bottom of the line, 24K vehicle as the EXL was over 30 grand. But it has double the road insulation than what her Civic had and with 17" tires it really is a quiet ride.

So, what to bring? I plan on having at least a few Shermans as my Panther I am finishing right now is not battle ready. Too bad as I have only battled with a heavy a few time with my M26A1 and I really dug that.

Now I plan to not injure myself before this battle date. []

UPDATE:

We made reservations for the May event! So we are half-way there.

Now to refresh a few tanks and make sure they are up to par.

The more guys the better. Glad you can make it.

Bob, let's set a goal of 50 tankers with 100 tanks at the 10th Anniversary!

Also, Dana or Bob... how do you allow the Sturmtiger to battle at Danville? I have the Apple in the conventional position and the emitter in the correct size tube in the barrel, I would just like to know if it runs as a heavy or an IFA?

Not too much of a big deal, I'll just bring some tape with me but I just want to get some time on it as it's never battled before. Or I'll just run it around some if it's not allowed at all.

Past sturmtigers were classed as heavies, though all tanks are now IFA up to 10 feet of another tank with the TFA mod.

Sure....just rememeber that approx. ten minute reload time. Just bring it down. We will figure out a solution to get it onto the field.

There have been a couple Sturm Tigers on the field at Danville before. Bring it. Variety is always good!

Good deal! I think I will buy a wheeled dolly to help move these.

The museum has a dolly that we use to move our tanks inside to the work benches. No need to spend money you don't need to.

Thanks, but I prefer to have my own.

They're only 15 bucks and then I don't need to wait 'till it's ready for me.

Besides... I need to load the car too? [X(]

Hi,

What's the policy on modern tanks, or tanks with gun muzzle-mounted IR emitters?

I believe any tank is welcome.
Several guys bring Leopards, and one scratch built Russian Eagle.
Occasionally, especially when there is a crowd of people watching, we will have a WWII Allied vs Axis battle with a little more "historical accuracy."

The main requirements is that it is Tamiya compatible and meets these standards on the H*E*A*T website: (depending on which club sponsors the event)

I think that is the best policy as I overlook a Bulldog or a Leopard on the battlefield.

Kinda like the movie "Battle of the Bulge" where they used M47 PATTON tanks as the Germans King Tiger.

It's just entertainment!
