can't tell if it increase the rpm, sense i started with the FB ring from first start up.as far as i can tell from other EME60 are getting,not much of a increase over those,but that shows how well the cylinder and EME ring are sealing.it may have made it smoother running,going from the other engines that i used the FB ring in.
the engine is running 300 rpm's less than the DA,if you can rely on those reports.some i can match those number's others i am just a little less,so it is real close.with a 23-8 prop i can match all numbers,with the Falcon 24-9 i am with in that 300 rpm's.also i am getting the same exact rpm's that the EME video shows.and the same exact numbers that OS is stating for there new 60.
as far as the DA60 i think it is better built engine and will last longer with out a rebuild.but i can rebuild the EME myself when the time comes,so it's not a big deal.
the DA has had some problems with midrange surging or burble some have been complaining about, and DA answer to that is to retard the timing as far as possible.all that does is detuned the engine.some guy's have been replacing the DA ignition with a rcexl and the rough idle and the mirange surging and or buble is gone.

that really helps. Now I have to figure out if I'm going to keep it or not.
if I have to buy a replacement ignition, then the difference in price would have gone up and I'm not sure if thats worth it for me. I might just go EME and save close to $260.

So my engine running rough problem (EME 120) was a bad ignition. As someone suggested earlier, I switched the plug wires and sure enough, the problem switched cylinders. I should have a new ignition within a week or so.
Ramoooo - If you can afford the DA, that is a no brainer man. Everyone compares their engines to DA, therefore that is what you should run if you can afford one. I have several but as I was ranting about earlier in this thread, I am just trying to keep flying on a budget. The EME 120 is pretty close to half the price of a DA by the time you buy the exhaust. I thought I would give it a try. I have a DLE 170 in my 40% and cannot be more happy. If it breaks, I cannot take it up the street to DA but again, 50% is worth the chance to me.

Finally got to run the 120 in my run rig using cannisters (for the neighbours). Used the EME plugs, but will change out later. Easy to start, choke on, pumped fuel up line, flicked once and it popped, choke off, 2 flicks and it was running. Ran smooth after a warm up, it ran as low as 900 rpm. I used a balanced H/King 28x10 I had, as it was the only prop around here that wasn't drilled. I got it to 6200 and was going more but a cannister coupler was letting the cannister move so I backed off. I'm 60m above sea level. RPM taken from a RCexl tacho. The timing was also 35/36deg which I changed to 28. No issues for me so far, it runs.
Need to put it in an airframe with a better prop and fly it now. I'll probably put it into my old tug and the DA120 into a 40%Decathlon.

Unfortunately it is just me holding a GoPro at the same time so its not going to win an Oscar.
With the cannister secured, it got to 6500rpm and was idling at 1200.
My quick and nasty linkage was stopping it from going to max throttle (not by much), so I'll get a 29x10 or 28x12 and see how it goes.

well i just tried the Vess 24a on my 60 today. and just as i thought i was getting the same rpm as the rest of the 60's that don't have a Bowman ring.
i got 6910 on the Vess 24a,that just shows how well the stock EME ring is sealing.john911 is getting 6900 with the stock ring,on the same prop.

I eventually took mine out and flew her but could not get the top end right, only 5400 RPM max with a sputter so I gave up and sending it back to exchange it. In doing so BTW, I discovered the ones offered now have real Walbro carbs on them, where mine had EME.
I haven't given up on the motor, just the one I had. Even sputtering and only turning 5400 RPM, it pulled my 260 out of sight, much better than my DA 100.

Yes all 120's should have walbro wj71's on them.. Mine performs like a hoss...
You mention sputter.. Are you sure it isn't an ignition issue..Pick-up sensor??? Sputtering can be caused from timing issues as well.. However don't give up on your 120.. Mine has been smoother and more powerfult than anything I have ran

Thanks Taildragger. I didn't want to give all the details of what I tried because I didn't want to discourage anyone from this motor. I think I just got un-lucky, one bad engine out of 20 is not bad. So ignition, yes I tried a new one. Timing, yes reset to 28 degrees. Plugs.. funny story, thought the original issue was plugs so I swapped them out for a brand new set of iridium's. Just by accident, I found both the stock plugs and the new set had a crack in the porcelain and that was my original problem all along. This after swapping the stock rings out for Bowman, then back to stock, two ignitions, countless carb adjustments, removal, checking, rechecking, and finally because someone above said to throw in a new set of CM6s, I did that and presto she idled like a sleeping baby. I think the Chinese carb is the issue, or the stock rings that I put back in could be affecting the power but I gave up and decided to swap out motors when I found out the new ones had the Walbro (you just can't beat the WJ71 so why mess with the stock carb right?).
I saw your video, very nice sir. I like the field you are at too, jealous. I believe the next round will be a bolt and go and then I will make some video myself.

Thanks about the flying site we that is one of 2 we have and the other is 800' of pavement.. We are lucky. Just wish the weather didn't stink..

Got the 120 today, thanks for the lightning fast shipping Chad!
I've already got the GT-80 pulled from the Pawnee and am working on getting the EME fitted. It's actually about 1 1/4" shorter than the Zenoha.
When I'm done I'll be towing up other tow planes though (insert Tim the Toolman grunt here!)
I have more video of the 60 in action as soon as I get a chance to get it loaded I'll post some links.

@ Baracuda - Going from a GT 80 to EME 120, certainly worthy of a good Tim the Toolman grunt. You should be able to pull around some full scale with that set up!
