GR130 Turbine
Hi,
I and a group of eight friends intend to make our first turbojet engine. After a lot of search, we have chosen the GR130 model taking into consideration its relatively higher thrust over the KJ66.
Being our first model, we have a lot of doubts and fears, but searching for aid on the internet we've found this amazing forum.
So, Can anyone help us with our first steps by some pieces of advice or any recommendations ?
Has anyone tried to make this turbojet engine before ??

Hi, nice parts you made there. Very difficult to see although where the problem could be as I can't check any tolerances from the pictures. Just a few things to mention:
- Turbine blade clearance to NGV maximum 0,15mm each tip
- Compressor blade clearance to casing maximum 0,25mm, 0,15 ideal
- Injector needles need to touch the stick tube wall, see for this otherwise you can have a flametourch like this!
- ECU or manual fuel feed is way too much during start-up, make sure fuel is poored in at only small droplets at a time, lowest rate as possible.
- It appears your idle rpm seems very low, correct? Make sure not to stop starting proces until ypu reach 30.000rpm minimun, 35.000rpm ideal. This corresponds to 0,15bar for the GR130 and 0,3bar for the GR180. When at 20.000rpm stable you can't accelerate or you will see the same flames as in your movie.
- Double check part dimensions, when I look at your diffuser it seems as if the throat width (air entry distance between blade tip and other blade seems too large so almost no diffusion takes place, hence no compression. Again this will make your engine a very bad starter with large flames, maybe no run at all...
- Night running (in darkness) may fool you, a normal engine will glow at idle and max, power as well, take measurements of exhaust gas temperature so you know what you have. Starting may go skyhigh on a poor engine up to 950 degrees, as long as it's only for a short period of time and accellerate to idle with no delay to 35.00rpm. Now you should have a temperature between 550 and 650. When it is reaching 800 degrees celsius, stop the engine and investigate.
Hope this gives a starting point where to look at.
