Default Float plans?

Hi all. First off let me say that I have never flown a plane off of water. I am brand new when it comes to floats. I have , however, been flying rc for many years as well as full scale. That being said, I am really wanting to try building a set of floats. I would like to build a set out of foam and glass them. The air frame is a sig 1/6 cub. The fuse length is 41 inches from the back side of the prop to the le of the elevator. If any one knows where to get a set of plans, or has a set to sell, then I would love to hear from you. I would also appreciate any advice, tips or tricks. Thanks in advance for all of your feedback. Steve.

You could start off here. http://www.smilesandwags.com/floats.html Jim is very helpful. Also John Buckner might stop by this thread. Also a very helpful member.

Yeah, I can't find anything at that link either. I should have said earlier, the reason that I want to build my own rather than just buying a set is that I already have a big pile of foam, a even bigger pile of balsa sheeting, and all of the stuff needed for fiber glassing. Also, I'm more of a builder than a buyer. If I can build it, I would much rather. Thanks again, steve

The link is for Jim Casey's website. Don't know why it doesn't work. It will if you cut and paste it into your browser. Can't explain. He has lots of good info. You could also PM him. Very easy to get along with. I think there may be some plans there somewhere. Not 100% sure though. I am sure he could point you in the right direction. Just went and tried something else. I typed Smiles and Wags RC into my browser and Jims website came up. Hope this helps.

If you measure your plane from the drive washer to the rudder hinge line then multiply by .80 that should give you your length...The step should be about 1/4" to 1/2" in front of the C of G Your floats should extend past the nose about 2 " Some guys like a flat bottom , some like a V bottom...If you can find sombody that has a hot wire set up you can easily make some templates out of formica or plywood ..Just rember that the wire can burn into it if its not hard enough..

Well, Jim, you might want to check some of the links on that page.
I'm having a problem with the Lake Havasu Flyers (http://www.geocities.com/amahsf/)
They may be what is now the Desert Hawks Radio Control Club which can be found at http://www.deserthawksrc.org/
They are the ones that put on the Annual London Bridge Seaplane Classic each year in November.
I didn't check all of the links. Just the ones that are important to me. Thanks for putting up the page.

Yeah, I know that time has marched on and some of the links have expired.
Not continually committing html has rendered me less capable to do so than I was.
I need to refresh the dog page, too.
