RE: dx18
800 bucks is outside my R/C budget even on a good day, and what's the 18 really get me that I don't have with a Dx8 other than extra channels. You'll have to view my comments in the light of my past R/C where I started with Rudder only controlled airplanes (1964).

RE: dx18
In my opinion i think this radio would be best suited to a bigger scale plane. I suppose other than the usual controls like ail, rudd etc you would use the extra channels for details such as lighting on the cockpitt istrument pannel and wing lighting things like that.
Does that reciver 3 or 4 satalite recivers ?

I have had many radios over the years and there is always a feature, in the next level radio above the one I bought, that made me wish I had waited and bought that one.
I have two JR XP9303's with Spektrum modules, but I bought a DX8. While the DX8 has one less channel, it has some very interesting programming. It took me much less time to set up the aircraft that I formerly flew with the 9303. I have a Hangar 9 P47-150 gas powered that requires 9 channels and 3 JR Matchboxes. With the DX18, all the mixing can be done in the Transmitter, with no Matchboxes.
I will sell the 9303's and buy the DX18 and use it for everything. I like having a second radio for backup or as a Trainer Box, but I can't say I have used my second 9303 very often over the past 4 years except for one 72Mhz receiver I still have.

RE: dx18
How does it fit in a carrying case? I have a JR case that fits 2 transmitters, my 12x and my backup dx6i. It doesn't look like it can fit that kind of case.

It's about 10.5" tall (measuring with my calibrated hand-spread ). It depends on which carrying case you're using if it will fit. I don't use a case for mine.

No, but between me and Freechip over on RCG's radio forum you're covered pretty well. Just ask, we'll do what we can to help.
If you're into airplanes the DX18 isn't much different than a DX8, just more you can do. If you're into gliders, you want to download the stuff Sherman Knight has posted on the Kennedy Composites website.

RE: dx18
Very good.Foam is kind of overrated anyway IMO.After years of driving a pickup truck I found that if you pile enough stuff inside nothing can roll around.
