many of the Jet hangar hobbies models are suitable, and in the UK Russ Delaney is prototyping the manufacture of several of the thorpe bros models for turbine kits. http://www.rcmf.co.uk/4um/index.php/topic,94424.0.html
Or there is the popular Savex L-39. boomerang nano. From your description I suspect you bought the 7lb thrust engine that was for sale on the JMA website, bear in mind it doesn't have the oomph of the later Gold version with 10lb thrust.

Is there any plans to produce an earlier F/A-18, like and A or C version?
Thanks

If you are after cheap the Bobcat 50 converts to turbine fine.
Not sure if they are retract ready these days & you will have to do the usual
cheap chinese airframe mods. John.

Actually talking of cheap I have found this. JP Seagull Ultrajet based on the very popular Multplex foamie of the same name and can be had for about £230 on the net. also there is a good thread on rc network.de where the guys there are having some success with it.

Hi anton, Is the test of the turbine F-18 far away? I have a Wren 54 with 5.5kg of thrust that needs a home!
Is there any plans to produce an earlier F/A-18, like and A or C version?
Thanks
Dave

RE: Airframe for WREN 44?
Savex make an F-16 which is suitable for Wren 44 conversion as well as their L-39l:
http://www.savex.cz/prod.php?lang=en&id=11
There's an RCU thread for it as well:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_27..._1/key_/tm.htm
I have one of these, bought damaged & waiting for repair.
There is not a lot of info in the kit regarding the turbine/undercarriage/wing mount, a
complex sub assembly which forms the heart of the model however. - John.
