LADY ALICE P-51 RIDE!!!!
This weekend my job took me to the LA area. Sam Wright (the announcer for Top Gun, FL Jets, Warbirds Over the Rockies, and many more) told me if I was ever in the LA area, give him a call and come out to their hangar. All the stars aligned and I was able to get to the hangar. Sam was able to set me up with Ken "Wags" Wagner, the owner of Lady Alice and Sam's hangar mate. I met Ken this year at FL Jets and spoke to him about RC (he's a jet flyer) and of course the Mustang. Long story short, I was able to hang out at the hangar for the day and went for a ride in LADY ALICE.
No words can describe what I felt. I make my living as a commercial pilot flying jets for the past 17 years, so flying is an everyday occurrence for me. THIS WAS NOT! This actual Mustang saw time in Europe, making it all that much more spectacular.
A huge THANK YOU to Sam Wright for putting it together and also to Ken Wagner for putting me in the Mustang for a ride. Ken is a true gentleman and an Warbird enthusiast who knows just what he has and is eager to share this piece of history to anyone interested. I couldn't thank him enough for his kindness and generosity.
This video shows LADY ALICE in action. Be sure to check out Part2 of the video to see what kind of a person Ken Wagner is....a truly great person.

Very cool. You lucky dog. The video was great too watch. What struck me was the view out of the bubble canopy. Never having ridden in an aircraft like the P-51 I was amazed at the unobstructed view to the sides.

kewl, let me know next time Wally and give me a call.
I took lots of pics of Lady Alice back in 08 when Ken
had her up here at Minter Field.
Speaking of Jetcat, I hope to have one of those engines
and pipe sent to me soon for Evo's 262

Dr. Wagner IS a generous man indeed and now you join the ranks of the "lucky" few. Welcome to the club
I was VERY lucky twenty years ago, as I was crew chief for Clay Lacy's purple P-51 and got to travel with Clay to a number of local airshows for several years.
I do realize just how expensive rides can be, and therefore know how lucky I was. It is a definite must for anyone's "bucket-list"
I share your joy and excitement!
If you are in the area in June, come out to the Scale Squadron's annual scale fun-fly at Prado field, Chino,Ca. on the 7th - 9th. Dr. Wagner usually attends as well as performs
fly-overs in his P51 at noontime. This event attracts hundreds of scale modelers from ALL over. Nevada, Arizona,Kansas etc. ( see page two of my website for the schedule of many great scale events in and around Southern California )
I took these photos at last year's event as Dr. Wagner made several passes ( gear up .... and down )
Ken.

furloughed-
You ARE a lucky man. A ride in Doc's 51 is on my bucket list. I was out at the Prado flying field when he made his flyover on Saturday. It's a fairly common occurance to see the Lady Alice fly past the field as it's the same field Ken flys at. Having spent some time with him at the field, he is truly a gentleman. As far as Sam Wright, ha!, the stories that man can tell about RC! Another great guy.
Glad you enjoyed yourself.

RE: LADY ALICE P-51 RIDE!!!!
Just signed up for this board so I could leave a response here...hopefully this is seen by anyone who might be able to help!I have someone very close to me who shared a love/interest in the P-51 with a dear friend who passed away three years ago. I have been desperately trying to find out how to purchase him a short ride in a P-51 for his birthday and have been having a heck of a time. Can anyone point me in the direction of Dr. Wagner's e-mail/contact information or if he prefer not be bothered/requisitioned, could someone forward him my information? I would greatly, greatly appreciate it as I know the experience would be probably one of the greatest of his life. Thank you! My name is Ashley and my e-mail address is: [email protected]
