Default Vintage MRC Jet Boat

Does any one have any info on this boat? Maybe the year, power plant, production #'s. I've haven't been able to find anything on it. I want to convert it to brushless if I can find something to mate with the drive. Any suggestions or part #'s?

The boat looks to be made of fiberglass and I think MRC made all ABS hulls but I could be wrong.I know it says MRC on the transom but maybe those are initials or Mr.C.It looks like it was powered by a nitro motor and the extra hole in the transom was for a tuned pipe or water outlet. The jet drive would have to be of good quality to stand up to nitro power-probably not something that MRC would produce.

It's not an MRC or MRC-Tamiya hull, as it's probably just some decals that somebody put on it. I can't think of the name of it off-hand but it was made to run in many configurations with usually nitro power as an inboard or outboard. This is the first one that I've ever seen with a jet drive in it. The jet drive may be an older Graupner unit.
I also have to agree with sportygreg that I've never seen a fiberglass hull coming from MRC-Tamiya, usually really bad plastic hulls.

The hull is fiberglass and the MRC is molded in it. It did have a small nitro motor in it. I have the electronics out of a brushless ProBoat that I plan on installing.
I contacted MRC and they was of no help, sayed it had to be atleast 30 years old and that they could not confirm if it was one of theirs.

OK, if it has MRC molded into it, it probably doesn't stand for Model Rectifier Corporation then.

Interesting isn't the word! Just for the fun of it; just to gut the interior and put electric motor up front with submerged drive in like an ECO. Motor could be a 3500kv on 2S giving you 25000 rpm on a 632 cut down to 630 with lipos in parallel like 2.2 in the 40-50c. The rudder can be placed 2" forward of transom with drive placed at 12 degree with prop tips 1/8" from bottom of boat for ride.. I'd plexiglass the top in 2 pieces. Just my 2 cents. I have a hopf eco.

MRC is the name of the Jet Drive. It is very similar to the [link=http://www.jet-drive.de/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=11&Itemid=17]Powerjet sold by KMB[/link], but a little smaller at 9" x 2-1/2", with a 38mm impeller, and had bearings in both ends (Powerjet has a bushing in the stator housing). Yours is missing it's reverse bucket. I think the Powerjet is a copy, as the MRC is a vintage drive. If I remember right, the Powerjet reverse bucket was the same size (I've had both in my hands at the same time). Absolutely suitable for a 40mm brushless motor. Keep the KV around 20,000 rpm's. A 1450kv Leopard 4082 or a Turnigy T600 outrunner on 4S would be a good choice with a T180 esc. Jet drives are energy hogs and not as fast as surface drive prop, but super fun in creeks and rapids.
