3D Hobby Shop Osiris 2M

RE: 3D Hobby Shop Osiris 2M
But shipping for the Vanquish is 150, which is where I came to my $800 shipped price. I would actually be shocked if the 2M Osiris comes in over 800 shipped, I agree on the similarly sized planes from 3DHS being far less than $1000. I think Joe's info may be rumor, though September is about what I was expecting in terms of availability.

The similar sized planes don't have the demands of the weight limit. That might be where the extra cost is coming. Selecting good wood, the extra attention to detail required. $1000 is still a deal if it flies as well as I think it will.

The real difference is volume. How many Focus' were sold vs how many 72" extras? The ability to amortize tooling and r&d costs is big.

Limited info as I just asked Andrew about it last night and they are flying a recent proto in UT with the changes that he requested and from the sounds of it, the design work is done. As for delivery or such, no clue, didn't ask.

I just received this in response to my inquiry:
We do not know about the 2M Osiris. This model may be available from another manufacture in the future.

Maybe the emphasis has shifted to the Proteus, with which Andrew won top spot on Team USA. Awfully good flying model in the best of hands, that's for sure.
I sincerely hope someone produces the 2M Osiris, however!
For the upcoming season, the [link=http://www.extremeflightrc.com/html/2MVanquish.html]2M EF Vanquish[/link] seems to be in stock now. Great model for the money!

RE: 3D Hobby Shop Osiris 2M
We showed a production line Osiris at the AMA show as one of the three raffle raffle prize airplanes ( you can still buy tickets) Andrew said, if I remember correctly summeriish or before I think. I am glad they didn't release it when it wasn't ready. Be assured its not because of anything but that Andrew wants it to make weight easily, and that he wants it to fly really good. Which I am sure it will. I think they will sell a huge load of them when it does come out.
It was light and well built. Looked really good to me. And I checked it over pretty good.

From this angle, the wings look truncated. What's the span on this plane?

I talked to Andrew about it a bit today, but he didn't have too much detail to share just yet. He's got a lot going on right now, so I wouldn't expect too much info right away. It takes time. He's already in full preparation mode for South Africa next year. He's headed to the WC on a mission!

Then what is the scoop on the Proteus or is that a proto-type too? I'm just wondering, as I have not seen much about it.
Thanks'

Looks very similar in profile to Proteus per papaone photos.

It's not available till you hear otherwise and may never be. To the best of my knowledge. The design lifespan of something in pattern is relatively short. It's tough for the manufacturers and the dealers to produce a low cost pattern plane and have any margin. That's why you don't see a lot of them available.

So no one that talks to Andrew knows who will be selling the 2M Osiris? It won't be 3DHS.

RE: 3D Hobby Shop Osiris 2M
Well I have been looking for any bit of information that might keep me from going with another product. The 62" Osiris is my all time favorite airplane, and is what got me into pattern in the first place.
Between my AJ Slicks and my Osiris, there is a reason Ihave held out for so long, to fly Andrew's 2M
I understand there is very little profit on these types of planes, which probably explains the lack of support and info from the dealers, designers.......
I guess this is the best place to find out if this plane will ever be sold. Iwill hang in there for a bit, but I am really starting to look into the 2MVanquish.
